Once upon a time, there was a beautiful Brand. This Brand was the brainchild of a brilliant person who saw a need and filled it with excellence, quality and persistence. Great minds joined this brilliant person and the Brand was catapulted into the stratosphere (meaning: they were a success, in case my overused cliche distracted you). Full shelves in major retailers were full of these products and the space kept expanding as one successful launch after another was released into the world. (Queue the story arc) And then.... Shelf space began to decline. And decline futher. Accounts dropped the Brand entirely. Now, if you see it at all, it is usually on a bottom shelf, with only 1 or 2 items available... and sparsely stocked. .................................................... What do you think happened? 1st person to guess correctly will get a $5 gift card for coffee.... which will either get you a very very very small coffee or pay for the majority of a larger one. #CPGBrands #Operations #Retail #Sales&Marketing #SupplyChain

The reason you're struggling with sales is that you don't understand how to handle price objections. 80% of the time the customer is objecting to the lack of value, not the fact that they cannot afford it. Imagine if someone offered you a brand new Lamborghini Aventador for £10,000. Even if you don't have £10,000 you WILL find the money somehow because you see the value. Next time your customer objects to the price, here's what you should do. Restate the value of your offer rather than instantly going to discount the price. Discounts and payment plans should always be a last resort. Arguing about the price of your offer WILL NOT GET YOU ANYWHERE if your customer does not understand the value of your offer. I'll give you this piece of paper for £10...no? How about £5...no? How about £1...no? Oh wait, I forgot to mention there is a code written on the piece of paper for a £500 gift card! Oh, now you want to buy it? Do you understand?

Common myth: you need decades of experience to have a personal brand. I beg to differ. You should do it early. Reasons why you have put off building your brand- 1. Imposter syndrome 2. Self-doubt 3. Don't know what to say 4. Don't know your audience 5. Afraid of rejection Reasons why you are good enough 1. You could help at least 1 person 2. You are good enough 3. Just start writing. Just start. 4. Most are just worried about themselves. 5. You get judged every day. Might as well do you anyway. What it could lead to 1. A job 2. A company 3. A friend 4. An opportunity 5. A sale 6. A free $20 Amazon gift card Okay, you might not need a personal brand for the gift card. But for everything else there's your brand.

"Your gift card is about to expire?" LOVE this promotion. I got this email yesterday - and just had to share. It's a great example of a clever promotion. Strip away the presentation and it's really: ?? A "£20 off when you spend over £100" offer. But they've wrapped it up beautifully, to create (I assume) far more impact than a "£20 off when you spend over £100" promo would. Let's break that down ?? Urgency - deal expires at midnight ?? Copy: "A Gift From Us to You" - it doesn't come across as a discount, and it makes the customer feel special. WITH graphics of happy models wearing Merrell products. ?? The "Gift card" concept creates intrigue. I know I don't have a Merrell gift card. But I'm opening that email to find out what's going on (I'd love to see the open rates!) ?? The "Gift card" concept creates reciprocity. As the customer it feels like I've been given £20. Which is a VERY different feeling to thinking I could save £20. ?? Easy to redeem. You can't see on the graphic - but redemption is via a 5-letter one-word code that isn't personalised, and is easy to remember. ?? Easy for the team to run - only one code to test. Why am I bothering with the team bit? Profit darling. A good promotion exists to get the customer to do what you want them to do as cheaply as possible. As cheaply as possible. That's about how much margin you give away AND about how much overhead it costs to run the promotion. ?? Love it? Hate it? What do you think? #MarketingTips #Creativity #eCommerce
