House Republicans play with a possible government shutdown to win the fight to require voter registrants to show proof of citizenship. The bill, if passed, would fend off a shutdown of key government processes and services that could occur after September 30th — weeks before the presidential election. https://lnkd.in/gTNtdqaM If passed by the GOP-led House, the bill will likely arrive DOA (Dead on Arrival) on the Democrat-controlled Senate floor. This is as the “Stop the Steal” movement continues to push false narratives claiming that noncitizens are voting in federal elections. And voting advocates worry over the repercussions for marginalized voters and #democracy. https://lnkd.in/gJY3s55e #elections2024 #voting #democracy #asianamericansvote #gotv Sources: Los Angeles Times, NPR

?? Who are the remaining undecided voters? With just about three weeks out until the election, we wanted to take a closer look at this key voting bloc that could shape the outcome of the 2024 election. According to our recent nationally representative survey, these voters typically tend to be white suburban Independents who are less educated than the average voter. Concerningly, undecided voters are significantly less likely to trust the results of the 2024 elections, underlining the importance of reaching these voters ahead of the election for partners working on increasing election trust. #Elections2024 #UndecidedVoters #Politics #Inflation #Healthcare #Immigration #CivicEngagement #ElectionTrust

On Election Day, we’re sharing crucial ISPU data on American Muslim experiences with voting. Per 2022 data, Muslims are the most likely religious group in the U.S. to face challenges when casting their ballot. 46% of Muslims surveyed reported they had issues when voting in previous elections, compared to 24% of Jewish Americans, 21% of Catholics, and 19% of the general public. Top challenges reported were: - long wait times - shortened poll hours - nearby polling stations shut down - cumbersome voter ID requirements - language barriers causing difficulty understanding ballot choices - facing intimidation If you’re voting today and experiencing an obstacle to voting, the ACLU’s election hotline is a non-partisan resource: 1-866-OUR-VOTE. The Pro Life Campaign Voter Guide for the upcoming local and European elections is out now! ??? We are asking all pro-life supporters to circulate the link as widely as possible - to family, friends and neighbours who are pro-life - encouraging them to make a note (or send themselves a reminder) to check the Voter Guide before Election Day, so they can evaluate the stances of candidates on right to life issues like abortion. If we spread the word enough, we will see lots of new pro-life candidates elected on Friday 7th June. Let's not pass on the opportunity to deliver these critically important gains. The Voter Guide published is the result of painstaking work, with over 2,000 candidates contesting the upcoming elections. Great care was taken to get things right, out of respect for both voters and candidates. Some candidates still have not replied to our questionnaire. If you spot any candidates you happen to know who fall into this category, please ask them to consider responding as soon as possible. Also, if you see something in the Voter Guide that you think isn't correct, let us know. Our main objective is to provide accurate information to pro-life people before they go to vote. We believe access to active travel, affordable childcare and housing, and the freedom to not only access your essential needs but turn them into positive opportunities, are priorities in shaping the growth of the people in our community, so let's bring them to the top of everyone's agenda. We can't do anything unless you talk to us though and that also goes for voting. We understand it can be difficult to believe in but if you don't do it, you can't be part of shaping your own future. We are doing what we can to find out what you need and make the right partnerships to make changes, and we need you to support that by taking part in elections too. With the new requirements, you'll need a valid form of photo ID to vote in person. If you do not have a valid photo ID, you'll need to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate (VAC), before 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2024. If you need any help with this, you can talk to us online or in person, and you can also find further information about elections on the Middlesbrough Council website. #elections #voting #activetravel #affordbalechildcare #affordbalehousing #essentialneeds https://lnkd.in/ePVeS2pu

Voting Voter suppression has always existed in US elections. From the late granting of voter rights to BIPOC and women to current restrictive voter ID laws, there is an adverse effect on communities of color that far outweighs voter suppression in any other way. US Citizens have the right to vote regardless of color, race, religion, disability, and more. Learn how voter suppression affects elections and be ready to report to your local election office if you believe you've been a victim of voter suppression. #UntilJusticeDataPartners #UJDP #PublicHealth #EnvironmentalJustice #SocialJustice #ClimateJustice #HealthEquity
