“Since Paradigm started 30 years ago, our North Star metric has been putting people first. We've seen first-hand how severe and catastrophic workplace injuries impact the entire family. The support and hope Kids' Chance provides to the children of injured workers can be life-changing. It's truly an honor and privilege to support this organization and its mission to create brighter futures for the children of workers who have been injured on the job." - John Watts Jr., CEO of Paradigm

20 slides, auto-advancing every 15 seconds. This was the challenge Steve Arntz took on as a speaker at a recent HR conference and he packed in a ton of great insights on #connection and #inclusion into his allotted five minutes. For instance, I'll never look at 2% milk again without thinking of the current inequity of venture capital being given to companies led by female CEOs (watch his video below to learn more). My favorite insight? Steve shared the power of asking the question "How might we...?" in our interactions with others. As an example, he used this question to start thinking about building more a more flexible and inclusionary workspace. How might we create spaces for... ? Parents to build incredible companies? ? People to think and reflect before they speak? ? Employees to work that are both flexible and have boundaries? "How might we...?" What a simple way to welcome diverse opinions and perspectives! Steve's use of this question in his presentation resonated with me on the principle of equitable flexibility from O.C. Tanner Institute's 2024 Global Culture Report (https://lnkd.in/gb6dGtZ3) where we found that when employees are highly satisfied by their work flexibility, the odds of them staying one more year increases by 384% and the odds of them feeling a high sense of fulfillment increases by 479%. Here is the link to Steve's presentation, it's worth a listen! https://lnkd.in/gvi9zz6R

I was watching a recording of my son's performance in Little Mermaid with him. He lasted a minute before saying, "I just can't do it anymore, I can't watch myself." I was impressed that he watched for a whole minute. I have only been able to get about 15 seconds into this recording. DisruptHR was one of the hardest speaking moments for me. I love speaking and it took everything I had to step up onto the stage and give the thumbs up to the a/v team. As soon as you start it's like a rushing river you can't stop. No clicker, no hiding. This topic is important to me. Finding ways to increase access to capital, so that more brilliant people can build, matters to me. I'm grateful for my partnership with Marinne and her willingness and trust in me to share some of her stories. I would love it if you could do two things... First, watch the five-minute recording. Second, give me some comments or DMs on what I could do better next time. Finally, let me know If you'd like for me to go deeper on any of the points. I've already had one friend tell me that she wanted to hear more about the specific policies, lessons, and outcomes. Here's to leaning into feedback and growth! https://lnkd.in/gUisFXFN

Advancing neuroinclusion is my passion. This makes the Difference Maker Award [2024-25] from the PBS program, “A World of Difference: Embracing Neurodiversity" particularly meaningful.???? The PBS and Beacon College partnership focused on supporting neuroinclusion is all about making a positive difference in the lives of neurodivergent people. And I am beyond grateful they identified my work as deserving of this year's Difference Maker Award. This honor comes with an episode of "A World of Difference: Embracing Neurodiversity" show. The episode premiers tomorrow, Nov. 2, WUCF or on the PBS app nationwide. The episode is focused on my work of creating inclusive and empowering work environments where neurodivergent people and everyone can thrive. ?? I know that with inclusive Human Resources and management systems such workplaces are possible. This is why I wrote "The Canary Code: A Guide to Neurodiversity, Dignity, and Intersectional Belonging at Work." This is why I support organizations in doing the work. But the world needs many more difference-makers and change-makers, and I am thankful that PBS and Beacon College do so much to support and inform new generations of neuroinclusion advocates! Let's make the world inclusive! ?? #Neurodiversity #HumanResources #management #inclusion #diversity #change #autistic #ActuallyAutistic #awards
