Here at Kichler we have made a commitment to mentorship as a way to help connect people at all levels of our organization and in every part of our business. It's also a proven way for us to grow internal talent and develop the people who will be leading our company in the future. Today I had the first conversation in our next round of mentoring, and it was filled with learning (on both sides), laughter, and a nostalgic chat about soft pretzels, cheesesteaks, and Jersey diners! Over the course of my career I have been both encouraged and challenged by mentors who invested their scarce time to help me grow, and I'm honored to be in a position to do the same for others. Mentoring may be the most efficient way to develop talent, and for a remote-first organization like ours it's a great way to build relationships and trust.

I was with Kichler from 2011 to 2015. During that time I established a “training and mentor” program to bring younger people into the lighting industry. Out of the first class of four, three are still here! Mentorship and younger talent recruitment is essential to the longevity of an industry as well and being present for their tenure…..like being a parent! Good for you finding your mentors and those that can be present for you always.

6 个月Mentorship is such an important part of professional education and growth, with an effective mentor both parties enhance their skill set and build the relationships for future leadership. The commitment of effective mentoring is substantial but I have often found it rewarding in the right environment.
