Where does your coffee come from? Globally, coffee farming sustains the lives of 12.5 million farming families. To them, coffee represents food, clean water, school fees, and a better home. In Araku Valley, we work with over 10,000 smallholder coffee farmers, 38% of whom are women, from tribal communities through FPOs. In the past 6 years, we’ve focused on training in agricultural best practices, establishing post-harvest infrastructure like wet mills and drying yards, coffee quality testing in cupping labs, and improving market access. Cupping labs, in particular, are helping smallholder tribal women gain a new perspective, enabling them to experience the rich flavors and unique profiles of their coffee first-hand. For many, this is their first opportunity to taste and understand the quality, and flavor of the coffee they cultivate. This insight, coupled with barista training helps them secure better market prices, and redefine their roles in the coffee value chain. Every time you enjoy a cup of coffee, take a moment to reflect on its journey from crop to cup. #FromCroptoCup #SmallholderFarmers #FPOs #ArakuCoffee #TribalWomenEmpowerment #Coffee #CoffeeImpact #FarmersFirst #EmpowerThroughCoffee | Krishnan Hariharan, Elorika Tayal, Elaine Noronha, Rupesh Desai, Sandesh Deranna

We've been getting to work out in #Ward8! As many of you know, we don't address food deserts because we know that food access is a man-made problem with plenty of man-made solutions available for those who care to fix it. Although Ward 8 has the highest number of #farmers in #ChocolateCity, it is still considered the hardest hit by what we call #FoodApartheid. Since the two wards #EastOfTheRiver can only access produce at two big box stores, #DreamingOutLoud is building a market in #HistoricAnacostia! The significance of building something at the intersection of #MLK and #MarionBarry is not lost on us, but knowing that we will be able to give more market access to #BlackFarmers and #BlackBusinessOwners in the region while giving our community a chance to buy #LocallyGrown organic produce is an honor and a privilege that we don't take lightly. Tell your friends and follow this journey with us all the way to the grand opening!! #LinkInBio #FreshFood #FoodJustice #BlackOwned #HealthIsWealth #HealthyEating #GrowYourOwn #FoodIsMedicine #SmallBusiness #LocallySourced

When you Buy SA. For SA. you’re not only getting incredible, fresh produce, you’re also supporting local growers like Mitolo Family Farms and Sundrop Farms. It's great to see supermarkets getting behind the #BuySAForSA message, making it easier for consumers to identify what's local. From vine-ripened juicy tomatoes grown in a world-class greenhouse in Port Augusta, to delicious creamy potatoes grown by a third-generation family business in The Riverland, next time you're out shopping, look for the State brand and Buy SA. For SA. #brandsouthaustralia #brandsa #buysandsupportlocal #saproduce

?????? The first full week of August brings around National Farmer's Market Week. Along with it comes the bountiful harvest of fruits and vegetables ripe for your family's table. National Farmers Market Week is ideally timed to coincide with the seasons when local produce starts to come into full maturity. That makes the week a good time to revisit your local food producers who appear year after year when produce is ripe. The people bringing in produce congregate in the parking lots and shopping areas to sell directly to customers. Farmers markets are some of the most community-based enterprises to exist. More than 85 percent of farmer's market vendors traveled fewer than 50 miles to sell at a farmer's market. In fact, more than half of farmers went less than 10 miles to their market, according to the USDA. Happy Farmer's Market Week from all of us at Seeds Digital Marketing, where we grow your business's online presence! #FarmersMarketWeek #FirstWeekofAugust #SeedsDigitalMarketing #DigitalMarketing #NationwideService

If you enjoy visiting your local farmers market, have you ever considered why? Maybe it’s seeing fresh fruit displayed under tents of many colors, feeling the just-harvested vegetables in your hands as you make your selection, or something else? For AFT team member Rachel Newcomb, these reasons -and so many more- are part of why she shops at her local market. But truly, the most compelling part to her is the feeling of gathering, nourishment, and community. ? Read more: https://bit.ly/3ywsMTa. #FarmersMarketWeek
