Drill Update: -First person map released. -Gamedev Advice Podcast appearance. #Fortnite's First Person Mode was released the other week. This is something I have been looking forward to for some time, as I was involved with its development while at Epic. For launch we built our own map called Elimination Confirmed. Unfortunately the discovery gods did not favor us, and when we landed in Discover it was three pages deep, which is essentially the same as no discovery at all. But we anticipated this to a degree; one never knows if you will get Discover placement, when that might be if you do, or where you might be placed when it happens. With this in mind, (and deadlines looming,) our initial push for first person launch day was a MVP release, with the idea being that subsequent updates might give it another crack at discovery later. In the next couple of days we'll push a new version which features player onboarding, better spawn protection, in-game event messaging and sound cues, thumbnail tweaks, a new lobby image, and completely redone lighting and environmental FX.
