Interesting article on the need for advocacy for parents who find themselves in a position having to engage with social care. The study is from the US but I can relate to a lot of what they talk about. Parents feelings, the system can appear one sided and not always in the favour of the family. Adopters Advocacy aims to highlight the voices and needs of adopters during the adoption process and after a child has been placed, without diminishing the importance of adoptees and their birth families. At Adopters Advocacy, we have three new research projects planned for 2024, which continue to focus on the support needs of adopters, including those who experience child-to-parent violence/abuse, and/or adoption disruption and breakdown. Our current projects are focusing on adopters' mental health and their support needs.
