Americans call it Independence Day. In the UK it's Decision Day! 4th July - a General Election. No matter what your political beliefs are, for charities this is a prime opportunity to get your issues on the political agenda. Here are some suggestions of what you can do now to challenge potential MPs to review and instigate policies that affect your cause if they get into power. ? Partner with other charities supporting similar causes to campaign and lobby ? Represent the communities that you serve by voicing the issues that matter to them and demonstrate the realities they face.?Find out what’s important to them. ? Get clear on the policies or changes to policies that would most benefit your sector/beneficiaries ? Prepare templates for supporters to send letters/emails to their candidates ? Prepare questions for supporters to raise at hustings ? Engage with all political parties What else can you suggest to champion your cause?

The right to vote—your voice and choice—can be one of the first freedoms taken away. Some abusers don’t allow Survivors the opportunity to vote, while others coerce them to vote a certain way. This Election Day, we stand in support of every Survivor reclaiming their power and making their own choices. Your vote is YOUR voice.
