The Magic of Holiday Discoveries Through a Child’s Eyes The holiday season is a time for wonder, connection, and creating memories that last a lifetime. For families with little ones, these moments hold even more significance. There’s nothing quite like seeing the magic of Christmas lights reflected in their eyes or watching their excitement as they help decorate the tree. At Baby Trust, we celebrate these magical moments not just as festive fun but as opportunities for growth and learning: ? Family Bonding: Activities like decorating the tree strengthen connections between parents, siblings, and even extended family members. ? Motor Skills Development: Hanging ornaments or stringing lights are great for improving hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills in young children. ? Fostering Traditions: Involving children in holiday traditions instills a sense of belonging and creates cherished memories they’ll carry into adulthood. This season, let’s slow down and embrace the magic of small moments—like children’s laughter while untangling twinkling lights or their pride when they place the star on top of the tree. It’s not about perfection but about presence. What holiday traditions bring joy to your family? Share your stories with us, and let’s celebrate the magic of childhood together. ??? #FamilyFirst #HolidayDiscoveries #ChristmasJoy #BabyTrustMoments

The best holiday memories are made through experiences that help us connect with the people in our lives! Here are 3 gift ideas for strengthening connections with children this holiday season: 1. Give the gift of time spent together. -Use holiday time to get down on the floor (or at a child’s level) and play! Let them lead the way. Ask questions, like “What are you building?” “What do you think would happen if…"(we put another block on top? We mixed the blue paint with the red?) -Share an interest, hobby or skill with a child. Children often imitate our actions or interests. For example: -If you are a sports fan–give a team shirt and age-appropriate ball or sports equipment. -If you are a bird watcher, share a book about birds and take a walk to look for birds (count birds, name colors, etc.) Put out food for birds or decorate a birdhouse together. -Gift an outing around a child’s interest, such as an animal habitat or a monster truck show! Showing an interest in what a child is interested in builds connection and communication! 2. Give the gift of language. -Give books or just spend time reading to children! -Visit the library for holiday books to read to your children. -Help build vocabulary through meaning-filled conversations, talking about picture books as you read together, and discussing activities. For example: “Bring me two candy canes”, “Let’s roll the cookie dough” “How does the dough feel? Mine feels sticky!” Children are learning important language and social skills through back and forth conversations with others! 3. Give the gift of comfort. -Don’t underestimate the comfort your child feels knowing you are present. -Take time to listen. Establish a signal, such as touching your elbow, for when your child needs to tell you something that is important to them. Being heard brings comfort. -Sit with children to watch their favorite show; know their favorite character; make cartoon voices and talk about things that happen in the show. Retelling stories is part of learning language skills (not just naming letters and decoding words!) ??What gifts of connection will you share this holiday season? ??Check out our blog posts on “connecting games” for ideas by age! #earlychildhoodspecialties #playislearning #holidayparenting #holidayplay #toysforlearning #spendtimewithfamily

December is a difficult month to maintain a routine, at home or at school. As soon as children see decorations or the December calendar, they feel the excitement and anticipation of the holidays. As parents and teachers, we may feel the pressure of growing to-do lists, expanded by the fast-approaching events for which we must shop, bake, or travel. It's understandable that everyone's stress levels may be going way up! Let's share how we plan ahead with our children.? We use our calendars to track responsibilities and appointments, set reminders and prepare for what is ahead. Sharing some of these strategies on the children’s level may help them regulate emotions of anticipation and excitement.? And we're also showing them how useful calendars can be! Mark special events like holiday programs, class parties, and family travel on a special countdown calendar or the regular calendar. Children can then see - and you can help them count - “How many days until ______?” This can also help us focus on each day rather than one big event. For example, “Tomorrow is the Christmas party at school, so today we are making cookies to bring!” At school, show children on the calendar which days are school days, how many days until a holiday program, and when Santa or another special visitor is coming! Using the calendar during center time to talk about these events makes it a more meaningful, hands-on learning tool than just a way to practice rote counting. And keeping it available during free play encourages individual counting and conversations. To get your own countdown calendar, you can find one in stores, or you can search online for make-it-yourself countdown crafts. Of course, you can make it even easier on yourself, decorating any calendar with drawings or stickers for special days and events! Let counting down to special days help you and your children focus on today! #earlychildhoodspecialties #playislearning #socialemotionallearning #childcaretraining #daycareowner?#earlychildhoodmath

It’s thankful Thursday…so grateful for the repeat order from Outdoor Lab Foundation of Colorado. They reached out to us knowing that our products would be a perfect fit for their kids coming to the program. Our KoolKozy legs, KoolBoots and KoolMitts will keep them warm while on their adventures in the woods. We love their values: The Foundation’s values align with Outdoor Lab’s ICARE model of student engagement. ICARE stands for Integrity, Commitment, Awareness, Respect, and Empathy. For us, this means: Integrity – The Foundation will operate with the highest level of integrity. This includes being accountable and transparent with the funds we raise. Commitment – The Foundation has a commitment to our community. This means knowing the community, listening to the community, and responding to the community. Awareness – The Foundation is a champion of the legacy, history, and cultural importance of Outdoor Lab and will be an effective advocate for the program – raising awareness of this unique community asset. Respect – The Foundation operates with respect for our partners. We are especially attuned to the needs of our site staff, 6th grade teachers, and the schools that we serve. Empathy – The Foundation recognizes that we must be student-centered in our work and empathize with their experiences and the experiences of their families. We understand the difficulty the staff have of dressing individuals in wheelchairs. Our goal is to make their job easier and get them out into the community for programs. Live life the Koolway Outdoor Lab Foundation and thank you for your order!
