Growth happens in the small moments we often overlook. As the first month of the year comes to an end, I took a step back to reflect on how much I’ve learned and improved. Not just in business, but personally too. Here are some key takeaways: ?Consistency wins over perfection.? There were days I felt stuck, questioning if my efforts were enough. But I kept showing up, and that made all the difference. Small steps add up. ?Boundaries matter.? Saying "no" to things that drained me allowed me to say "yes" to things that actually moved me forward. Energy is precious. ?Every challenge is a lesson in disguise.? Some things didn’t go as planned, but instead of seeing them as setbacks, I saw them as redirections. Adjust, learn, and keep going. ?Creativity thrives when you allow yourself to slow down.? Stepping away from screens, spending time in nature (especially being out with my daughter), and being present helped me return to work with a fresh perspective. The biggest growth? Trusting myself more. Doubt creeps in, but this month, I reminded myself that I’m capable, and that progress, no matter how small is still progress. Now, I’d love to hear from you! Two entirely different messages (when someone says “I’m EXCITING,” it means they’re the source of the excitement) ? I am not sure if I should be posting this… But in all honesty, I took this challenge to share what brings me joy, And I’d be lying if I were to say anything surpassed the level of happiness I felt (yes, a fleeting moment of it) when I opened this email. ~ //Back story: I joined the Premium Ghostwriting Academy a few months ago (much later than I should have, but it's faaaiiiinnneee) And it wasn’t an easy decision. Of course, for starters, it’s because it is an investment. But after a thorough evaluation and help from a couple of people Steve Jobs would have called A-players, I said “Hell yesss”! At the time, all I was looking for was: ? A community ? Some accountability ? And access to the GODS of writing online and Ghostwriting Nicolas Cole ???? and Dickie Bush ?? But in all fairness, I was just as excited to get in touch with Daniel Bustamante ???? and Andrew Madison, too! And PGA gave me all of that and so much more! I couldn’t wait to become a “PGA graduate”. I challenged myself to do it within 2 months (it’s a 16-week intensive program), and in all honesty, I could have done it sooner. Everyone has weaknesses (mine’s distraction). ~ Anyhoo, fast forward to today... I checked my inbox and came across the subject line - How to charge $6,500 (instead of $650) And the subtext said - “with just ONE writing project”… … before even opening it, I had a strong feeling I was gonna smile reading that email (and I’m sure you can tell why from the screenshot) And go ahead, tell me I don’t value money, I don’t have the right money mindset, etc etc., because the truth is — It’s not about the money. Getting paid didn’t give me as much happiness as reading this email, where I am used as a successful example (to attract more leads), did. Soooo, yeah. That’s Day #3 of 100HappyDays! It takes time, effort, and consistency and, most importantly, it takes God. I went from primary school to secondary school, then to my first degree, NYSC, and finally to my BSc, all without a break. Looking back, I see that I never paused to discover what I truly wanted in life. After my BSc, the questions became real: “What do you want in life?” “???????? ?????? ?????? ???????????” “Who are you?” “Which area do you specialize in?” Honestly, I was utterly clueless. I knew I liked to write, but I never took it seriously. I admired others' content and often thought, “How in God's name did they come up with this?” Then I started seeing content and copywriting courses popping up everywhere. Curiosity piqued, I tried it out. But let me be clear: it wasn’t a smooth ride. I tried, I failed, I got tired, and I tried again. Eventually, I told myself to take it easy. I learned to take it one day at a time. When I faced setbacks, I simply started over. If the workload became overwhelming, I took a break and continued later. I keep moving forward, reminding myself that everything takes time, consistency, and, most importantly, God’s grace. So in all I do, I give thanks to Him. Long story short: I may be new to content writing, but I know I'm headed somewhere, and I’m no longer utterly clueless. My goal is to complete my content writing course within the next month to deepen my skills and understanding. Fun Facts About Me To lighten things up a bit, here are five fun things about me: ? I have a tiny voice-it's always funny when someone asks if there’s a child around when I'm speaking! ? I’m very playful, but I can be serious when needed. ? "Take the things you’re good at seriously." Dimpho Lekgeu This year, I decided to elevate my side hustle and promote it to main hustle status. The said hustle, Speakingdom, offers 4 core services, ?? Team Building ?? Nation Building ? Content Marketing Management ?? And my favourite, Public Speaking! The business started with 1 service, the one I am good at, can you guess which one of the 4 it was? Young people often ask me, "How do I know what I am good at, and if I can make a living, you know, build a career from it?" As far as finding out what you are good at, here are 3 quick tips: 1) What do you gravitate towards in your spare time? Not watching TV or sleeping, but think about the things you enjoy volunteering your time to do. 2)?What were you good at as a child? There are hints in your natural abilities, things you did that might have got you into trouble, and you might even have been discouraged growing up. I’ve said this many times, but for me, that was talking. I can’t count how often I ended up in detention for talking in class. 3)?Are you hearing the compliments coming your way? We tend to think that people are just being nice when they compliment us, but there are often trends in what people have said to or about you that can point you in the right path. You can also talk to close friends and family and take an aptitude test to glean what you are good at. Having stirred ideas and pending projects to work on can be mind boggling, almost as though life itself should pause and give you a week off to just get things done. But do you know why that will most likely never happen? Because there's no WIN without a fight! ?? The greatness celebrated in people lies in their ability to show up and grow despite, and not because of what was handed to them on a platter. Does this mean that results always have to come from a hard place? Absolutely not! ?? But it's a call to awareness that process will always precede results, and process many times looks messy! Messy can look like deadlines here and there, a demanding 9 to 5, academics, pending courses to take – yet you still have that ?????????? that makes your heart skip beats, anytime you think of what you could be doing. Here's my encouragement to you – keep that ??????????. Preserve it! Don't sit around wishing for a 'paused' life like the former me, strive for clarity and maximise helpful strategies like better Time Management. This year will be packed, true, but as long as you set your mind to it, plan realistically, and take pressure off, you can achieve any and every thing! Mira* was a skilled technical writer working for a multinational corporation. Her job gave her no fulfilment though. When she spoke to me, she mentioned that she was looking for a way to infuse more joy into her worklife. I knew that often the reason joy is missing from people's work is because they are not able to use their natural strengths at work. Strengths are a source of joy, engagement, flow and high performance, and if we get stuck in roles that don't allow us to use them our enthusiasm and performance can both dip. I invited Mira to take a strengths assessment and she agreed. When we were discussing her report, we realised that she had natural strengths of Creativity and Courage that were not currently being used. We discussed whether there were any opportunities in her present role for her to bring those strengths into play. She thought that stepping up to organise a few events and designing and running a few mini-workshops might allow her to do that. She went ahead and did both things and enjoyed both of them. It reminded her of how much fun she used to have when she was a teacher at the start of her?career. So after work she started taking on a couple of students to teach them German. This allowed her to stay in her job while doing those things that gave her a sense of engagement and joy. Over time, Mira realised she needed to be true?to herself and started to prioritise activities that energised her while letting go of those that drained her. A year later, she decided to move full time into teaching German, as that allowed her to make a living doing something that made work feel more than merely bearable. A few years later, she added a second service - teaching English to non-native speakers. When I asked her what has changed for her, she said that work for her is now "peaceful, without stress, fun and energising". As you can see, discovery of our strengths and being coached on how to use them at work can have a tremendous impact on our careers. Day 89? of my 90 days of daily posting ??As I am very much close to complete my 90 days. I would like to share something which I learnt during this period of the past 3 months. ??Let's start with consistency - Consistency is a way to go for a beginner in any field. If he/ she is putting his best efforts each and everyday with a clear vision, the person will be better than 90% of the people around his areas. So as a beginner you should be consistent. ?? Discipline - Another thing I learnt during these days is the power of Discipline. It is said that no one can be perfect without discipline. When I took that challenge to write 90 days in the sector, I was fully motivated and determined that I will complete this challenge, no matter what will? happen on that particular day. ??There were some days where I almost felt not? to write but my inner satisfaction was not allowing me to do , so I wrote almost every day . This is the beauty of discipline that is connected with your satisfaction level if you are fully determined to do something. ?? Improvement in my articulation and reading skills - This is something which I am feeling right now. During the first day , I was so nervous about thinking that what people will think ???? , my english is not good , blah blah thoughts. After keeping these thoughts, I just wrote and got appreciation from the people who read my posts . This gained and boosted my confidence level. Many people started appreciating my analysis on the sector and found it insightful . I was very happy as many people found my post contributing and gaining knowledge of them. ?? My reading skills improved as I read many articles, reports , and books on a daily basis. This improved my reading skills and started expressing this in my own language which helped my articulation skills to evolve. Today I am not afraid to express my thoughts. I can say I am more knowledgeable and skillful when compared to the first day of challenge. ??Lastly I would thanks all my LinkedIn audience for the support and daily engaging and commenting positively on my post . Without you guys and your positive comments I don't think I would be able to write for so many days consistently. As I mentioned above, sometimes I felt not to write but then I felt something was missing from my life? because of your appreciation and wonderful comments, it keeps pushing me further to write on a daily basis. I’ll admit, I’ve been procrastinating on writing a New Year’s post. At first, I thought I’d kick off January with some big goals and resolutions, but then I started wondering—does anyone actually care? Or is it just another post to scroll past and drop a pity like? So instead, I’m writing this now, three weeks in, skipping the whole “New Year, New Me” thing (because let’s be honest, chocolate and ice cream have already won). Last week, something huge happened in my world: My baby boy started playschool for the first time. ?? On day one, I sat and played with him in the classroom for an hour and a half before we went home. On day two, things got real. I stayed with him for 20 minutes, then waited anxiously in the office, fully expecting the dreaded “he’s inconsolable, come get him” message from the teacher. But guess what? That message never came. After an hour and 15 minutes, the teacher finally texted: "Azi hasn’t asked for you once. No tears, nothing. But you can fetch him now; we don’t want to push him too much on his first real day." And just like that, my little one showed me how to be resilient and adaptable. ?? My brilliant baby boy teaches me new things each day, but on Friday he taught me the following: 1?? Take every new opportunity as it comes. Jump in, even if it feels scary—you might surprise yourself! 2?? Don’t stress over things you can’t control. It’s easier said than done, but it’s worth the effort. 3?? Stop overthinking. Most of the time, it’s not as bad as you think it’s going to be. This isn’t a post about resolutions or big plans for 2025. It’s about appreciating the small wins, the lessons, and those moments that shift your perspective in a big way.
