???Maximizing Recruiting Impact Through Career Fairs and Beyond??? The latest data from NACE’s 2024 Student Survey report shows that?career fairs?are still among the most effective ways to connect with student talent. With over 51% of surveyed students attending a career fair in the past year,?45% received an interview offer, and nearly?25% were offered a job?after the event. This is a powerful reminder of the value of in-person career fairs in the recruitment process. However, students are engaging through various other channels too: 29% joined meet and greets 20% attended employer presentations 19% participated in webinars Interestingly,?29% of students reported not attending any recruiting events?last year, presenting an opportunity for employers to reach untapped talent pools by expanding and broadening recruitment efforts. ?? For recruiters and talent acquisition teams, it's essential to invest in a variety of event formats to connect with a wide range of student populations. Consider incorporating meet-and-greets, interactive webinars, and unique campus events to reach candidates where they are. On Wednesday I had the privilege of attending Birmingham University's Part-Time careers fair. A great initiative focused on helping students gain transferable skills and earn money whilst they work towards their career goals. This is by far my favourite careers fair because: ???? Over 700 students register to attend. ???? Over 75% of students that attend are from ethnic backgrounds. ???? I improve brand awareness within the community and promote Screwfix as an employer of choice. I also shared some hints and tips with the students on how to navigate the application process including: ?Tell us the hours you CAN work, not what you WOULD like to work. ?Study the job description beforehand and ensure your CV draws out some of the skills we are looking for. ?You all have experience so think about times when you have worked in a team, communicated with different people or had deadlines to meet - it doesn't always have to be previous retail experience!
