Tough but fun! My first-year summary as an entrepreneur: 1. Value of Money: A million euros might seem trivial in the corporate world. But as an entrepreneur, every euro is significant. It's a whole new perspective on financial management. 2. Recruitments: the model where every expert is a shareholding partner has attracted top-notch talent and made recruitment easy. ”Skin in the game” works! 3. Our Customers: There's nothing more fulfilling than solving problems and helping others. In just six months, reaching profitability is a great achievement in this market! 4. Our Incredible Team: Collaborating with such talented and dedicated colleagues is a joy. The incentives for every single partner are fully aligned as we all earn from the same purse. 5. The Joy of Networking. I never imagined how rewarding it would be to meet new, fascinating individuals almost daily. A new year for Black Belts has started! As Michael Jordan famously said: "I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." In that spirit, I want to share why High Risers didn't win and the valuable lessons we learned: - Ensure you're investor-ready: Have a solid business plan, clear financials, and a compelling pitch deck that showcases your value proposition. - Show traction through post-revenue numbers: Present verifiable revenue figures or key performance indicators that demonstrate growth and potential. - Know your market: Demonstrate a deep understanding of your target audience's needs and how your solution stands out in the competitive landscape. - Have a clear scaling strategy: Outline a concrete plan for how you'll grow your business, including operational scaling, and evolving customer acquisition methods. - Build a strong team: Highlight the diverse skills and experiences of your team members and why you're the best team to execute your vision and achieve your goals. Exciting news to land in my inbox today! Journey is listed as a finalist in the Australian Small Business Awards for 2024. We're now 14 months into business and WOW has it been a rocket. If you're new to our story, let me share a little. I started Journey in January of last year, keen and willing to throw 11 years of blood, sweat, tears and life long memories into a consulting business. Within 3 weeks we'd landed our first 2 clients and this rocketship was off. During the last 12 months, we've setup our AU business, we've setup our UK business and appointed Jordan Vickery as our global director. We hired, contracted and engaged with over 20 talented humans during that time and importantly we worked with over 37 different brands in some way shape or another. It's been a dream start, not without it's low's, late nights and plenty of stress. I couldn't comprehend we'd be a 7 figure business in such a short period of time and it's challenged what I thought could be possible. 3 key learnings from him generating >$181 from D2C ecom - Ruthlessly find fit and alignment: We need a great team to scale, and that means identifying team members who have the abilities and potential to develop alongside the business's growth - Zig, not zag: What everyone is doing in your industry doesn't mean you need to do that too.
