We're just too busy to do any training right now! Especially when times are tough it's hard to pull people offline for training. But even in the good times, it's easy to focus more on outputs and forget the inputs. But this robs your teams of what they need to operate at a high level. Observations are second nature within a training provider. They are a central assessment method for many qualifications, and a required part of quality assurance for both Ofsted and Awarding Bodies. But are you really getting all the possible bang for your buck out of your observation strategy that you can? Are they focused on box ticking or being used to drive a search for excellence in your delivery? Now partly that comes down to who you are asking to observe, but also how you are using the information gathered.
