One of my all-time favourite topics in the intersection of impact and investing: what does it actually mean for an investment to be "sustainable" in 2024? There exists a myriad of metrics and KPIs to play around with, but what do they really tell? The assumptions behind different definitions of "sustainable" are fascinating. Does abstaining from a black list of activities commonly viewed as unacceptable make a fund sustainable? What about incrementally decreasing negative impacts (regardless of whether said decreasing bears realistic potential of making the whole net positive)? If anyone is looking for a vigorous, productive, and collaborative agenda for their next #saleskickoff event, let me know! Key elements include: ? Prework. Six cross-functional teams took time ahead of the event (>10 hrs each) diving into key opportunities for our business, and arrived on-site with recommendations. This put some initiatives in flight BEFORE the event even got started. ? VOC: The biggest hit is always going to be hearing directly from customers and partners. They have the insights needed to bring the recommended plans to life. ? Future-focused. While we spent some time reviewing past accomplishments, most of the agenda was dedicated to 2024. ? Fun! Yes, it's always enjoyable. But take it to the next level with a competition (bowling teams with customized shirts? Yes and Yes) Especially in a remote-first environment, time in person is so precious. This framework ensured we used it well.
