“The fluoride research is very clear: Fluoride helps remineralize early and even later-stage cavities,” stopping them from forming or getting worse, says Gretchen Gibson, DDS, associate professor at KCU’s College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Gibson, alongside other experts, contributed to an in-depth article published by Prevention, a trusted leader in health information. This piece explores the critical role fluoride plays in maintaining and protecting oral health. Biological root canal procedures take traditional root canals a step further by adding laser-assisted technology for improved disinfection, as well as using biocompatible materials such as BC sealers and gutta-percha that stimulate the tooth’s natural healing ability. ???? Laser-assisted endodontics, like the Fotona Laser at Ballantyne Endodontics, helps to disinfect root canals, remove infected tissue, and promote self-healing with minimal invasiveness. To learn more about biological root canals and the laser technology we use, read our blog: https://bit.ly/3UtSuPi

Okay, all my dental friends- in today edition of "What's in Your Mouth" - What do you do if this is in your patient's mouth? (And, please watch the entire video because there is a surprise around minute 2) These periodontal disease pathogens create mayhem deep under your patient's gums, and into the dentinal tubules where the scaler can't reach and antibiotics will NOT penetrate. Biofilms are impenetrable to antibiotics. It's no wonder "we say" dental disease is incurable- because "we" are not dealing with the root causes. We need to ask- WHY the biofilm is dysbiotic and HOW can we help the body heal itself. It's not about the calculus. It is about the body itself and life at the cellular level. Are you curious about how to heal your patients, your family, and yourself? Join me and become a BioLogical Dental Health Practitioner- Come join me in Manchester UK for a day that will forever change the way you practice and become the true healer you always wanted to become.

Tooth decay progresses through several stages, each with distinct characteristics. Here are the stages of tooth decay: ??Initial Demineralization: At this stage, acids from plaque bacteria begin to attack the tooth enamel, causing demineralization. This stage is reversible with proper oral hygiene and fluoride use. ??Enamel Decay: As the demineralization progresses, the enamel starts to break down, forming a cavity or hole in the tooth surface. At this point, the damage is irreversible, and a filling is needed to restore the tooth. ??Dentin Decay: If left untreated, the decay can reach the dentin layer beneath the enamel. Dentin is softer and more vulnerable to decay, causing the cavity to deepen and spread more rapidly. ??Pulp Involvement: Once decay reaches the inner pulp chamber of the tooth, it can cause inflammation and infection, leading to severe toothache and sensitivity. Root canal treatment may be required to save the tooth. ??Abscess Formation: If the infection spreads beyond the tooth's root, an abscess may form in the surrounding tissues, causing swelling, pain, and potential systemic health issues. Preventing tooth decay is crucial through regular brushing, flossing, and dental visits. At New Image Dental Group, we're here to help you maintain healthy teeth and gums. There are three main types of cavities, classified based on their location and severity: ??Pit and Fissure Cavities: These cavities occur on the chewing surfaces (occlusal surfaces) of the teeth, particularly in the pits and fissures of molars and premolars. Food particles and bacteria can accumulate in these deep grooves, making them susceptible to decay. ??Smooth Surface Cavities: These cavities develop on the smooth surfaces of the teeth, such as the sides (proximal surfaces) where adjacent teeth touch each other. Plaque buildup and inadequate oral hygiene can lead to decay in these areas. ??Root Cavities: Root cavities occur on the root surfaces of teeth that have been exposed due to gum recession or loss of enamel near the gumline. These cavities are more common in older adults or individuals with gum disease. Each type of cavity requires specific treatment tailored to its location and severity. Early detection through regular dental check-ups can help prevent cavities from progressing and causing further damage to the teeth. At New Image Dental Group, our team is experienced in diagnosing and treating all types of cavities to restore your oral health. Contact us for personalized care and preventive advice! ????
