ARTICLE PUBLISHED ???????????? We are honoured to have our paper published in the Journal of African Business. Link to the article: https://lnkd.in/dG-F27wF Co-authors Prof Shelley Farrington and Prof Elmarie Venter In this article, we argue that while existing research highlights the importance of family values in family businesses, there is limited knowledge about these values, especially from the perspective of indigenous African family businesses. Using seven business-owning families, our findings reveal that these families teach the next-generation (NextGen) four sets of values: moral and ethical, economic, spiritual and religious, and cultural. The NextGen members are expected to use these values in their personal and professional lives. Family businesses should maintain value sets that meet the needs of individual family members, the whole family, and their cultures. Additionally, non-indigenous businesses should understand these values to engage better and build stronger business relationships with indigenous Black African businesses.
