Lawmakers in Washington State and Wyoming are taking two radically different approaches to Ranked Choice Voting (RCV). Washington policymakers are considering HB 1448 to allow local RCV, while Wyoming lawmakers have introduced HB 165 to prohibit Ranked Choice Voting. It is distorted by a convention that even on an item of national importance, if you write to an MP that is not your constituency MP?you get a response that includes something like "There is a strict parliamentary rule that MPs can only help their own constituents." In addition, it is further distorted by the "Whip" & "3-line Whip" https://lnkd.in/e6-W7Pgg Party MPs get messaged all the time - with the party's view, they can not say what they think, every interview is monitored. We have a system of "The Stepford Wives" rather than true representation. The #infectedbloodinquiry #postofficeinquiry #postofficescandal were all affected by this convention, individual MPs, were getting messages, but those that took an interest did not see other items, even when people knew they were taking a lead. So I want the convention changes, that you can EMAIL any MP so long as you copy your own in. That way these scandals will be heard of quickly, and hopefully resolved.

HR?9495?– set to be voted on by Congress today – would allow the Secretary of Treasury to designate U.S. nonprofits as “terrorist-supporting” organizations. The law would not require officials to give the reason for designating a group, nor does it require the Treasury Department to show evidence.?This would strip nonprofits of their tax-exempt status and shut down vital work and would impact many different organizations. This week, the House of Representatives is expected to move on a continuing resolution bill that will fund the government for the next six months. If not passed by September 30, government agencies could start shutting down. As part of that bill, House Speaker Mike Johnson is?proposing the addition?of the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which was initially passed by the House in July.? The SAVE Act simply requires individuals to provide documentary proof of U.S. citizenship in order to register to vote in federal elections and?requires states to remove noncitizens from their official lists of eligible voters. If it has already passed the House, why add it to a spending bill??Unfortunately, the Senate has refused to allow a vote on the stand-alone bill after it was passed by the House. To allow a vote on this good bill in the liberal-led Senate, the House has attached it to the must-pass spending bill. “What we’re trying to put forward is a bill that would freeze spending, check spending through March, take the pen out of the hands of Democrats so they can’t advance any more weaponized government and try to ensure that only American citizens vote in American elections,” Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) said. “We’re fighting to make sure only American citizens can vote. Tell me what’s wrong with that?” TAKE ACTION Urge your representative to support the addition of the SAVE Act to any continuing resolution bill being considered. Personal commentary~ Every relative and so-called 'friend' who supports him has cut ties with me. Every single one. I didn't even need to confront most of them—just one. The rest disappeared because they couldn’t handle that I speak out about systemic racism all the time. It made them uncomfortable. In truth, it’s been a powerful way to see who my true friends are. I’m fortunate enough to choose not to surround myself with people who are willing to let the civil rights of my fellow human beings be stripped away. I’d rather stand alone than stand with those who would tolerate such injustice. Understand that not everybody has that privilege. Sure, the consequences have been harsh, but they are nothing compared to my Black, brown, African-American, Indigenous brothers and sisters must endure every single day here in the USA. So yeah, I fully support this post. If you are famous and have an audience, then you have a responsibility to speak out. Disclaimer ~ Please note that my work focuses on educating 'white' individuals on how to live an antiracist lifestyle. I fully acknowledge that this is a journey, not an overnight transformation—quite the opposite, in fact.
