Reflecting on Women’s Health Week, I think about the moments we expect to feel supported but sometimes walk away feeling misunderstood. My annual OB-GYN visit was one such moment—intended to be a proactive step in managing my health, especially around my hormonal levels, yet it turned into a reminder of the broader challenges we face, and reinforced my passion for what I'm building. Discussing my health concerns should strengthen my resolve, not diminish it. I went into my OB-GYN appointment armed with results from a functional health practitioner showing low hormone levels, expecting a constructive discussion. Instead, I found my concerns minimized as typical signs of aging. This is a shared struggle among many women. Research shows that a significant number of healthcare professionals feel inadequately trained to address hormonal imbalances (The Tribune), which can lead to delays in diagnosis and treatment. This not only impacts immediate health but also long-term well-being. This experience reminded me how essential it is for us to be heard and supported in our healthcare journeys. It’s not just about treating symptoms; it’s about understanding our bodies and feeling confident to ask questions and seek answers. At Solace Space, we are committed to changing this narrative. By empowering women with the tools, resources, education and supportive community, we encourage active participation in health decisions. It’s about shifting from passive acceptance to informed advocacy and ensuring that every woman's voice is heard and valued in her healthcare journey. Embracing this challenge is crucial—not just for personal health but for our collective future. It’s about ensuring our voices are heard and that we receive the care we deserve. #WomensHealthWeek #ReproductiveLongevity #HealthcareEmpowerment

A piece came out in The Atlantic today asking if we'll ever break free of menopause. As someone building in this space, I believe we can. The article echoes what I've been saying over the past three years regarding women's reproductive health and longevity. It offers several insightful takeaways that underscore the importance of dedicating more resources, education, and funding towards research in this critical area. There's been a lot of buzz around longevity these days, but the conversation often overlooks a crucial piece of the puzzle for women: reproductive health. The truth is, our reproductive system is not just about making babies. It's a vital component of our overall health and well-being, and it plays a significant role in how we age. Menopause, in particular, can be a major turning point, the hormonal changes that come with menopause can lead to a host of health issues, from bone density loss to cognitive decline. And for many women, its like a fast-track to premature aging. But, it doesn't have to be that way. By prioritizing our reproductive health throughout our lives, we can set ourselves up for a smoother transition through menopause and beyond. That means taking a proactive approach to our fertility, even if we're not planning on having children. It means nourishing our bodies with the right nutrients, supporting our hormonal balance, and building resilience through lifestyle habits like exercise and stress management. And it means advocating for more research and resources to support women's reproductive health at every stage of life. Because the more we understand about how our reproductive system impacts our overall health and longevity, the better equipped we'll be to optimize it. Very excited about the work being done in this space and about what I'll be able to contribute to it through my platform Solace Space #reproductivehealth #longevity #womenshealth https://lnkd.in/gKjUU6KW
