We wholeheartedly commend the Township of Huron-Kinloss for their investment of $445,275 in the Women in Construction program. This initiative echoes our commitment to bridging the skills and gender gap in the construction industry. By equipping women with hands-on skills and certifications, it not only breaks down barriers but also opens doors to fulfilling careers in construction. This investment reflects a crucial step towards fostering diversity and inclusion within the workforce. We're elated to see these steps taken in the right direction. Progress like this emboldens us to continue our efforts in safety education, emphasizing that skills know no gender. As a woman-owned company dedicated to safety education in construction, we proudly stand beside initiatives fostering inclusivity. Happy to see where this development takes us! https://lnkd.in/eAbbXk4J #CAHillTech #WomenInConstruction #DiversityInConstruction #EmpowerWomen #SkillsDevelopment #InclusiveWorkforce #BuildingTheFuture #ProudSupporters #ConstructionIndustryInnovation

?? Infrastructure project development and investment offer a fantastic opportunity to benefit women, disabled people and local communities. That’s why it’s at the heart of GCIP’s mission to leverage UK expertise in gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) across our work. As part of this mission, GCIP’s GEDSI Capability Team recently designed a set of criteria to integrate GEDSI into infrastructure project development. After two peer review briefings in August 2024 – featuring some of the biggest names in infrastructure investment – there was unanimous acknowledgement among the reviewers that the proposed GEDSI criteria will help infrastructure project developers and sponsors create inclusive, accessible infrastructure. Learn more about this essential work in our latest Spotlight on Success: https://lnkd.in/d6B-vdTu @Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office #GreenCitiesAndInfrastructure #GEDSI

?? Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) design and implementation is key for making sure it contributes to gender equality instead of increasing it. #womenday #womenintechnology #womenrights
?? On this International Women's Day, let's spotlight the critical role of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in advancing gender equality and empowering girls and women worldwide. ?? DPI holds immense potential to enhance public service delivery and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. But it must consciously address and bridge gender digital gaps first. Gender inequalities present in physical infrastructure must not be replicated. Instead, DPI should be intentionally designed with gender-responsive strategies. Let's work together to harness the power of technology for a more inclusive and equitable world. Read more about this crucial topic in the article below. #InternationalWomensDay #GenderEquality #DigitalTransformation Norad - Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation Co-Develop ?? ?? https://lnkd.in/dQ7jdfs3

Are DPIs (esp ONDC) ready for a gender focused program rollouts? In the hurry to build something, we never think of the last mile deployment. This article and the subsequent links in the article give very good insights into the "last mile" problems and the need to build for them in DPG space. In the #ONDC space, I have always been thinking of how this DPI can transform the way businesses are done, transactions are governed, data is shared and owned and so on. But this of course comes with the privilege of knowing smart phones exist, Digital ID exists, digital literacy exists and so on. I have of course started going into the rabbit hole of DPI implementations across globe and the hurdles that exist. The consistent thought is not to repeat mistakes of the physical world in the digital world. The idea is to build gender sensitive solutions and programs. Some thoughts on the same in due time. #ONDC #DPI #DPG #SDGs
This World Economic Forum article by Gerda Binder, Senior Advisor, Gender Equality and Digital Technology at UNICEF and Carolin Frankenhauser, Technology for Development Specialist at UNICEF, reveals the capability of #DigitalPublicInfrastructure to change public service delivery and advance #SustainableDevelopmentGoals, highlighting that DPI must be designed with gender-responsive strategies that bridge the gender digital divide. Key takeaways include: integrating gender-responsive strategies in #DPIDesign and implementation to avoid replicating physical infrastructure inequalities, using #DPI to prioritize interventions benefiting women and girls, and addressing the gender digital divide by promoting digital literacy and online safety. Women working on infrastructure projects piloting the draft Culture Standard are reporting they feel respected and accepted in the workplace. The recent CICT Interim Report explores workers experiences on pilot projects and draws attention to the positive experience of women, however most still experienced inappropriate behaviour. Though these concerns were dealt with quickly and effectively, in some instances women didn’t speak up. This isn’t new.... and each initiative to overcome this drives us in the right direction. Some of the initiatives adopted onsite towards diversity included:? - developing a tailored women mentoring program? - embedding of a Respect Policy within the procurement process? - developing of specific recruitment programs with educational institutions? - applying a zero-tolerance approach to offensive language? - building gender diversity targets into subcontractors’ contracts and working with them to support achievement of these targets. The Diversity component of the Culture Standard focuses on increasing the representation of women, creating inclusive workplaces and ensuring equal remuneration between genders.
