Hartford Foundation came out with a survey report “Meeting the Growing Demand for Age-Friendly Care: Health Care at the Crossroads” in conjunction with Age Wave and The Harris Poll It reveals valuable insights into the state of health care for older adults in America, including: -- Wide-ranging dissatisfaction with health care and related services -- Opportunities going unmet to enhance a person’s ‘healthspan’ versus ‘lifespan’ -- Challenges are worse for underserved communities These and other findings underscore the urgent need for age-friendly care that incorporates the unique needs and preferences of older adults. North Dakota has a population of only 770,000 people. This creates challenges for achieving scale in important population health initiatives. But it also creates an opportunity for deep collaboration between partners that in many places might be siloed. An example of such an opportunity is the Dakota Conference on Rural and Public Health held annually in North Dakota. This pinnacle event brings together the North Dakota Public Health Association, the UND?College of Nursing, the UND Center for Rural Health (CRH), and?the Altru Health System and and many other partners.
