This is WAY more important than the complete lack of hype would suggest. H2 from seawater at the same volume and cost as from purified water... that’s enough to turn the global energy economy on its head! https://ed.gr/bf1qm
Yes, but what about the environmental impacts? Will this process effect the ocean's ecosystem? Totally understand burning fossil fuel causes CO2 to change the oceans ph, which ends up reducing fisheries biomass yields. But, when we humans modify, or try to change the natural processes of nature, there are always ramifications.
Hydrogen production from electrolysis is extremely inefficient. Moreover, its compression and storage also have energy costs. And unless the hydrogen is used in a fuel cell, its use for combustion is also inefficient (though more than petroleum fuels). This is about as good an idea as using ethanol.
Could be a huge game changer on global issues... not only avoids the negatives of fossil fuels but also multiplies the incentives for developing solar energy.
Sounds interesting, how can we help?
This is more or less hype. Instead of using the electric power to make the hydrogen just use the electric power to spin an electric motor. Much more efficient than burning hydrogen to drive a motor.
Depends on the output efficiency and the power it takes to generate the hydrogen.
Domestic energy priority #1.

5 年This invention is great. But this needs to be commercially viable otherwise the implementation might be difficult. Entrepreneurs always look for the cost of alternative energy cost. At the end of the day it is a profit / loss game.
