Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Natural Resource announced that the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District has been awarded $600,000 in matching funds through the State of Illinois’ Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) Program to assist in the renovation of Irwin Park. Tentative plans include a new playground, rain garden with pollinator plants, story walk, seating areas and more. These improvements will not only enhance the park's aesthetic appeal but also make it a more inclusive, and more enjoyable space for residents of all ages. Haunted Texas Theme Park is more than just a business; it’s a project rooted in social impact and driven by the needs of our community. With a focus on historic preservation, sustainable entertainment, and community-first initiatives, this development seeks to address some of the most pressing issues we face in Taylor today, such as: 1. Homelessness and Poverty Relief: The park is designed to generate revenue that can be reinvested in our community, specifically to support programs aimed at ending homelessness in Taylor. By partnering with local nonprofits and organizations, such as Mobile Loaves & Fishes, we can create jobs, provide emergency and affordable housing options, and offer support systems to uplift the most vulnerable among us. 2. Job Creation and Career Development: With Haunted Texas Theme Park, we envision hundreds of local jobs, ranging from hospitality and event management to technical roles in maintenance and operations. These jobs would prioritize Taylor residents, ensuring that our community benefits directly from this influx of opportunities. Additionally, we plan to incorporate skills training, internships, and career development programs in partnership with local schools and workforce agencies. 3. Economic Growth that Benefits Everyone: As businesses move into Williamson County, Haunted Texas Theme Park can serve as an anchor destination that drives tourism, promotes small business partnerships, and boosts our local economy. Our planned events, retail spaces, and collaborative initiatives with local vendors will ensure that Taylor's charm and character are integral parts of this growth. 4. Preserving Our Unique Heritage: Haunted Texas Theme Park and the USA History Preservation Project are built around preserving Texas' rich history, particularly the unique stories that define communities like Taylor. Through historical reenactments, educational programming, and storytelling, our park will celebrate our past while inspiring future generations to take pride in our town’s roots. 5. Initiated by #LeedsCityCouncil, this follows the introduction of ‘#SelectiveLicensing’ in #Beeston and #Harehills in 2020, which was aimed at improving the quality of rental homes and addressing social and health disparities within these communities. The initial scheme has shown promising outcomes; however, according to the #HousingAct2004, selective licensing in #England is limited to five years. Consequently, the council is now evaluating a broader initiative that would not only revisit #Beeston and #Harehills but also extend to include areas of #Armley, #Holbeck, #Hunslet, #CrossGreen, and #EastEndPark. #Leeds is proactive in addressing the diverse housing needs of its population. Alongside new development, the city is renovating existing properties to meet modern standards of living. Collaboration is essential to developing safe and enjoyable urban spaces. The Roxborough Development Corporation was proud to work with the Friends of Gorgas Park, Councilmember Curtis Jones, Jr, and other community partners in making the Gorgas Park Safety Improvement Project a reality. Made possible through grants from Councilmember Curtis Jones, Jr., the Philadelphia Department of Commerce, and the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development (in addition to contributions by the Roxborough Development Corporation and Friends of Gorgas Park), the Improvement Project will make it safer to walk and park?along Ridge Avenue while minimizing disruption to residents, pedestrians, and vehicular traffic along one of Philadelphia's bustling commercial corridors.
