In the fight against the #climatecrisis, every fraction of a degree matters. According to recent studies, every extra tenth of a degree means an additional 140 million people suffering in dangerous heat. It's time for the global north to take responsibility for this problem that it has created. By reducing emissions and providing climate funding to the rest of the world, we can work together towards a more sustainable future. #climateaction #netzero #climarechange

What if we stopped using all fossil fuel based products today? Would that be enough to tackle the climate crisis? Unfortunately, no. Reason: we have already done a lot of damage. Damage that is irreversible. Although we can’t reverse it, we can manage it better. So while we do need to phase out fossil fuels. We also need to manage the existing risks. That would be there for years to come. And that’s what climate resilience is about. It’s a combination of climate mitigation & adaptation. Wrote this article for Commons recently?? On why we need to build climate resilience.

?? We congratulate the Climate Council on the release of their report Seize the Decade: How we empower Australian communities and cut climate pollution 75% by 2030. We welcome its finding that Australia has an opportunity to capitalise on our clean energy advantages this decade. The report outlines many policy proposals that governments can utilise to cut carbon emissions. Ideas such as increasing rooftop solar uptake will be key to rapidly decarbonising the economy. In September 2023, we urged the Australian Government to adopt a net zero by 2035 target, and make deep cuts to high emitting sectors, to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees. ?? ?? Today the Climate Council debuts the first-of-its-kind report 'Seize the Decade' which details how we can successfully slash climate pollution by 75% by 2030 and protect the future for our kids. This past summer, Australians experienced ‘climate whiplash’, being hurtled from flooding rains to scorching heatwaves and catastrophic bushfires, and back again. The only solution is to end climate pollution as quickly as we can. Find out how we can do just that here: https://lnkd.in/g_AUbzKB

Need help thinking about how you can adapt to climate change ????
New innovative tool launches today to help local communities adapt to climate change. The Local?Climate Adaptation Tool (LCAT) has been developed by a team from University of Exeter and Cornwall Council, with input from more than 50 other local authority areas across the UK. Decision-makers involved in the development include councils, health and emergency services. ?LCAT has been designed to help local organisations increase their adaptation response to local climate change, something a recent government report describes as having ‘failed to keep pace with the worsening reality of climate risk.’ Climate Change Committee https://lnkd.in/ewK36ss5
