What do you do if your creative potential is hindered by self-doubt and fear of failure in Product Design?

During a design brainstorming session, a team member jokingly suggested a "Teleportation" button for an app feature, eliciting laughter and raised eyebrows. Beneath the humor, there was an unspoken tension rooted in the fear of failure and uncertainty about pushing boundaries. However, as we chuckled over the outrageous concept, it broke the ice, allowing us to acknowledge our apprehensions and embrace creative freedom. This humorous moment served as a reminder that even in the face of fear, humour can foster courage and innovation in design.

When confronted with self-doubt and fear of failure in Product Design, I approach it as an opportunity for growth and exploration. I acknowledge that uncertainty is a natural part of the creative process and use it as fuel to push myself beyond my comfort zone

I draw strength from past experiences where I've overcome obstacles, reminding myself of my ability to adapt and thrive in challenging situations

Go get some fresh air, do something you really like -especially if it involves outdoors-, and ultimately, put your inner critic under control. You are more than your products, you are not your works, but something bigger.

Experimenting and finding a lower risk way to "fail" is one of the best ways to build confidence and learn. This would also help you to exercise that creativity muscle. the more you load on the muscle, the more confident you will be.

I seek guidance from mentors, colleagues, and friends for encouragement and varied perspectives, fostering a supportive network essential for navigating challenges in Product Design.

Your team and its culture is one of the most important things for you to fall back on. Ensure that you are in a supportive environment. You should also ensure that you are doing the right thing to support your colleagues.

When I feel unsure, I learn new skills and gain knowledge. Doing this makes me feel more capable and confident. Each new thing I learn helps me believe in myself and reduces my doubts

When in doubt... research. When in fear... take action. Remember failure is just part of the process of learning. Work on a project, acknowledge that you're gonna fail at some point and learn from it.
