So Level 7 apprenticeships are back in the crosshairs today. I have 3 main things to say which all speak to the disproportionate impact of this rhetoric. I accept this is based on my experience of Sheffield Hallam University's apprentices, and may not reflect all providers, however: 1) restrictions of L7 will disproportionately impact on public services, an area of apparent priority from every speech at the party conference. We are meeting vital skill gaps in disciplines such as Advanced Clinical Practitioner and Town Planning 2) I just don't recognise the narrative of 'already well payed, well qualified employees'. These are NHS workers, civil servants and local authority employees. A high number of our L7 apprentices have prior attainment below level 4 and come from the areas of highest deprivation 3) Our level 7 apprentices are also mainly females (65%) and we have a higher proportion of minority ethnic groups and disabled students on these programmes then some of our other types of provision

Apprenticeship programs are one of the many ways companies can provide direct access to training the talent of the future. Through its high school apprenticeship program in partnership with CareerWise New York, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is creating pathways to careers in the healthcare industry. This apprenticeship program, in action since 2021, provides hands-on training, paid work experience, and a pathway to full-time roles for New York City high school students. From administration to supply chain, MSK is committed to building a skilled workforce while creating economic mobility for the next generation. Recently, MSK celebrated the expansion of this program into careers in radiology, making it the first healthcare company in New York City with this kind of apprenticeship. In fact, MSK is taking apprenticeships one step further by providing apprentices with tuition assistance. MEDICAL DOCTOR DEGREE APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITY 2025 Our colleagues at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust are once again running information sessions for those interested in finding out more and applying for their 2025 intake for the Medical Doctor Degree Apprenticeship Programme. In order to apply for one of the places on the Medical Doctor Degree Apprenticeship, candidates will need to meet the eligibility criteria provided in the booklet on the link below AND have attended one of the information sessions. The information sessions will be held on the following dates: Monday 15th July 2024 - 4pm-5pm or 6pm-7pm at Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford Campus. Tuesday 16th July 2024 - 4pm-5pm or 6pm-7pm at Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford Campus. Saturday 27th July 2024 - 9am-10am or 10.30am-11.30am at Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford Campus.
