In 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the "war to end all wars," WWI, came to an end. Since then, many wars have come and gone. Yet on this Veteran's Day, we thank God for all the soldiers, airman, and marines who sacrificed their lives for our freedoms. May we live in a way to earn this cherished right. https://zurl.co/ZK5K

80 years ago today, the final stages of WWII and the end of a terrible regime began. Over 7,000 allied ships operated by almost 200,000 naval personnel were dispatched to disgorge around 150,000 men onto the beaches of Normandy. By the end of the month, more than 850,000 troops, almost 150,000 vehicles and 1,140,000,000 pounds of supplies and ammunition were sent to those same beaches. Of the 4,414 Allied troops killed on D-Day, 2,501 were Americans. More than 5,000 were wounded. In the ensuing Battle of Normandy, 73,000 Allied forces were killed and 153,000 wounded. Some gave everything, and those sacrifices shaped the world balance in favor of the Allies and made the world we inhabit today possible. Take 2 minutes, quietly reflect on the folks that made that ultimate sacrifice that made your world possible. Take 2 more and think about how you yourself might be able to contribute to making the world a better place. #carpediem

Freedom is not Free...
On the coast of Normandy, on the bluffs above Omaha Beach, sits the American Military Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. Underneath its beautifully manicured lawns rest the remains of 9,380 soldiers, sailors and airmen, most of whom lost their lives during and shortly after the D-Day invasion of 6 June 1944. 80 years later, I wonder if America is deserving of such sacrifice. #freedomisnotfree #greatestgeneration

In times of loss, it can be overwhelming to know how to support one another. We often find ourselves searching for the right words or actions. However, we have a chance to make a meaningful impact in the life of a family experiencing unexpected grief. Let’s come together as a community to offer our support through donations, sharing their story, or even both. Each action can provide comfort and relief during such a difficult time. As we navigate this together, let’s also remember the importance of checking in on one another. A simple message or gesture can make all the difference. Together, we can help lighten the burden and strengthen our bonds as a community.
With deep sadness we remember SSgt Aaron Cahill, a beloved Combat Controller with the 24th Special Tactics Squadron. Aaron served our nation with distinction for 11 years, but more than his exceptional service, he'll be remembered as a devoted family man. His unforgettable smile and dedication to supporting military families touched countless lives. We invite you to help honor Aaron's legacy by supporting his family during this difficult time by following this link: https://lnkd.in/gb9Z3jXR #FirstThere #CombatControl #AlwaysRemembered #NeverForgotten #YouAreNotAlone

Veterans with mobility issues through being wounded, injured, illness or age, deserve to be able to travel with dignity, not be manhandked on and off aircraft like a sack of potatoes, risking injury, or death. They deserve to know their wheelchairs will not be damaged during a flight or during loading and unloading. United Airlines had the opportunity to have its replacement fleet accessible but chose not do. Janet do not wait for legislation that could force your airline to be accessible but show some humanity and humility to not only disabled veterans but all mobility disabled people, first by starting discussions with your aircraft manufacturers to make accessibility a priority. https://chng.it/XLVWt2Ls5y #unitedairlines #health #wellbeing #veterans #MemorialDay #AccessibleTravel #Wheelchairs #Disability #Transportation #aviation #AccessibleTourism #PVA #aircraft #accessibility #military #veteransaffairs
This Memorial Day, we remember those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. And to the many veterans, family members and friends of the military who have been impacted by loss and have reason to hold this day close to the heart, including our own United community members, we honor you.

November is Military and Veteran Family Month Our military families make sacrifices, too! https://lnkd.in/gk-CG2X9 While the sacrifices made and hardships endured by our service members are well-documented, a related aspect that many people may not think about as often are the sacrifices made and hardships endured by military families as well. Maintaining a family in the civilian world is challenging enough, and military families may also face additional, unique challenges, such as frequent moves from base to base, having a loved one deployed for months on end, or dealing with long-term physical and/or emotional wounds, that can make the task of maintaining a family seem almost overwhelming.
