One year later - it's time for LA Preview again - but before I am flying over I wanted to share a short update about my 1st year at Just Play. One way to describe your feeling towards a job is how you feel on Sunday evening when you are thinking about Monday morning. If you read through the next lines, you have my answer. If I could choose one word to describe the company - it is "passionate". People here love developing, producing, selling and marketing toys and we have a great (not only an american "great" - it is a german "great")international and US/HK team including a great leadership team. If you have on owner who sits with you 2 full days in our internal previews and on the 3rd day joins a separate int. meeting and tells the team: You are the eyes and the ears in your market, tell us what you need...well that was my 3rd day in the company and I won't ever forget those words. The toy market in Germany/Switzerland/Austria is still challenging: my experience in the last 12 months - we were given a fair chance to present and list our products at most of the relevant players in the market and as promised our products are selling really well. We were going from a local one man show, to a team of 3 beginning of the year and will extend our team in the coming months. The backlash resulted in significant store closures and layoffs, ultimately forcing Ratner out as CEO in 1992. Despite the collapse, he later reinvented himself, becoming a successful speaker and entrepreneur.
