My top 4 take-aways from the IDN Summit: Last week’s spring IDN summit delivered big on 3 action-packed days of leading-edge thought-leadership in healthcare supply chain. It was a pleasure to attend with Andrew DeLeeuw IV, and we both enjoyed hearing genuine excitement from healthcare leaders about DOCSI! Thanks to the IDN Summit & Reverse Expo, Josh Morita, each of speakers, and all the hospital representatives that made the week a success. Here 4 themes that rang clear across my notes from the week: 1.) A dollar earned does not equal a dollar saved. Even with a 2% margin (not too bad these days), achieving $5 million in savings is equal to finding $250 million in new revenue…How many OR days does it take to earn $250 million? 2.) People are tiring of ‘margin for market share’. Achieving true hospital/supplier success means thinking beyond price. That includes collaborating on initiatives that optimize product mix, streamline logistics, and enhance demand planning. 3.) Data Transparency is paramount to establishing a clinically integrated supply chain. Clinical decisions play a pivotal role in supply chain costs, and good decisions require easy access to actionable data. Providers are eager to help—empower them by delivering the data they want when they want it. 4.) Getting your data house in order will set the stage for long-term savings. Preference cards were a commonly cited example of this (probably because most are a mess and almost none are optimized!). But cleaning up cards isn't just about waste reduction. It lays the groundwork for improved demand planning, reduced skews, leaner inventory levels, decreased labor-hours, and stronger negotiation positions. DOCSI drives impact across all 4 of these important topics. Shoot me a note; I’d love to have a conversation about how we do it!
Looking great Joe!
