Genuinely try to learn more about your counterpart's situation. Share relevant ideas and experiences that show the other party why they should listen to you too. Even if you make some English mistakes, The other party's going to have such a deep, professional impression of you because of your ability to communicate, listen, and be curious. Somebody who speaks OK English but who communicates well will create more opportunities for themselves compared with someone with advanced English but who communicates poorly. Never underestimate the raw power of curiosity and a genuine interest in the other party. That right there is where the best opportunities are usually created. I recently experienced a deeply disappointing situation with a Chinese pharmaceutical company (Kunming Longjin pharmaceutical or Yunnan Longjin careyou biopharma ltd ) that laid me off without any compensation. As a foreign employee, I dedicated my skills and efforts to contribute positively to the team and th E company's goals. I believed in our mission and worked hard to foster collaboration and innovation. However, when the company decided to let me go, the lack of support and communication during this transition was disheartening. It's troubling to see how international employees can be treated as expendable resources rather than Valuable contributors. There is already a 50% confidence drop in working with Chinese companies for US-based life sciences companies. But it does not have to stop there. It makes completely sense that is a NO-GO to cut ties with China for every sensical biopharma player out there. The market is so big that undervaluing business development efforts within the Chinese biopharma sector long term will cause huge bottlenecks. To me it seems that the US, by enacting the Biosecure Act, will shoot its own foot. If the nation will not bring forward faster and cheaper legislations for manufacturing and producing drugs, then it can only loom the industry.
