Yesterday I had the pleasure of being in the Big Easy and at #atd24 brought to you by the Association for Talent Development (ATD). The session was all about the future of learning and the thesis was simple: "Life is the greatest classroom on earth. Or, at least it could be." In the session, we explored five possibilities for how to reimagine learning (or, Talent Development) in the modern company. Those questions were: ?? What if we shifted from "learning" to a fuller definition of "growth"? ?? What if the only purpose of talent development was to renew energy? ?? What if our role was to discover and distribute the "better practice"? ?? What if we were always there at the moment of need...really there? ?? What if our only job was to teach & reteach our company's "secret sauce"? In the session, we explored data about the current state of work, cutting edge approaches to talent development, and companies who are leading the movement to make talent development a key lever of growth for their firms. We must help our talent grow faster than their companies. We can do better.
