"Imagine if we measured success by the amount of safety people felt in our presence." ? Shout out to Sondra Lavoie, CSP, ASP, CHST on a great presentation on "How to have "THE" Conversation on Construction Suicide Prevention" put on by the CFMA. Work is stressful in general and the guys/gals in the field face stringent deadlines, hazardous jobs, with often times an old-school "rub dirt on it" mentality. The CFMA has resources to help out business owners, risk managers, and foremen to help make sure the boots on the ground are safe on and off the jobsite. #construction #safety #suicideprevention #CFMA

The simple nature of bowtie diagrams allow complex information to be understood by risk management professionals and the public alike. An example of this we’re seeing lately is in building safety. ?? Building safety managers are required to make a safety case for each high risk residential building, and bowtie diagrams are a great way to communicate the risks to their tenants. ? Here’s an example of an extremely simple #buildingsafety bowtie diagram.?

The bowtie is an essential part of every risk assessment I conduct, regardless of the industry or scale of the company—even on a personal coaching level. I've been utilizing the bowtie technique for over 10 years, experimenting with various tools along the way. But let me tell you, nothing quite compares to what Bowtie Master offers. Their tool isn't just intuitive; it's collaborative in a way that makes risk management genuinely enjoyable. As one of my stakeholders put it earlier this week, risk management becomes insightful and fun. All pieces of the puzzle come together. It provides invaluable insights into root causes, laying the foundation for informed decision-making. That's what risk management is all about: preventing risks on the left side of the bowtie, mitigating on the right, and ensuring our controls are in place for each cause and consequence, not forgetting to seize those positive risks—the opportunities. Bright Phoenix proudly partners with Bowtie Master, and aligned we are offering training sessions on the bowtie technique that provide insights on threats, opportunities, and the effectiveness of controls—seamlessly linked and aligned with other methods such as the typical matrix of likelihood and impact. Stay tuned with us for the latest dates—open sessions and in-company. Get in touch for more info.
