Hybrid working options in roles that can feasibly allow it, should consider this as a norm to adverts. It supports a more inclusive environment and I think it can prove widely beneficial to the employee and employer. It is nice to see it becoming more widely accepted

After the election this week, I’ve been thinking a lot about how voting day might impact the workplace in the future. Through research, I found that although there is no federal law mandating that employers must provide time off for employees to vote, many states have enacted their own laws to ensure that workers are able to participate in elections without sacrificing their income. As of now, 30 states and the District of Columbia have laws that require employers to allow employees to take time off to vote, often with specific conditions.?SHRM?recently posted an intriguing article highlighting the thoughts of many employers who have made the decision to offer paid time off to allow associates to vote regardless of state law. Here are some of my key takeaways from the article: 1. Increasing Employer Support: The article mentions that roughly 2,020 companies, including Patagonia, PayPal, and Levi Strauss & Co., have pledged to give employees a few hours off to exercise their right to vote. This initiative aims to increase voter participation and eliminate workers choosing between casting their ballot and receiving a paycheck. 2. Promoting Health and Wellness: Election season can be emotionally taxing for many. Offering paid time off during this time can help reduce anxiety, especially during high-stakes election years. Encouraging associates to make their voices heard and ensuring they have the time to do so can foster a sense of control, which, in turn, can significantly boost morale. Time to Vote?is a business-led coalition passionate about increasing voter participation. On their site, you can find a growing list of companies that have made the pledge to give employees time off, along with additional informational articles. While Time to Vote is not open to nonprofits, they partner with?NonprofitVOTE, an organization that works with nonprofits to engage the people they serve in voting. Additionally, SHRM offers excellent resources that can help HR professionals stay up-to-date and ensure we are following voting leave requirements, including whether such leave should be paid or unpaid. #OSUTotalRewards #EmployeeExperience #Compensation This LinkedIn activity is part of my Total Rewards course at The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business.
