New research uncovers the power of mindset in osteoarthritis management ???? Our VP of Science and Research, Dr. Melissa Boswell, alongside a team at Stanford University, has published a study in npj Digital Medicine to test a new digital mindset intervention for individuals with knee osteoarthritis. Their digital intervention, "Rethinking Osteoarthritis," gave participants the tools to rethink how they view exercise and manage osteoarthritis. Those who received the intervention demonstrated significant improvements in physical activity and psychological outcomes beyond those given traditional education or no intervention. This work showcases how principles of peak performance can be applied across the lifespan. From elite athletes to those managing chronic conditions, mindset plays a crucial role in unlocking human potential. While biomechanical interventions can alleviate symptoms like pain and improve functioning, they don’t automatically lead to greater physical activity or improved quality of life. Just because we can change the body doesn’t mean people will change their behaviors. To make a lasting impact, we must integrate insights from psychology, behavioral health, and beyond—addressing not only how people move but also why they choose to move. This belief was at the heart of our recent paper, now published in npj Digital Medicine, where we explored how a digital mindset intervention can transform the way individuals manage knee osteoarthritis. Our findings show that mindset isn’t just an add-on—it’s fundamental to unlocking sustainable physical and psychological improvements. I am incredibly grateful to my amazing coauthors—Kris Evans, Disha Ghandwani, Trevor Hastie, Sean Zion, PhD, Paula Moya, Nicholas Giori, Jennifer Hicks, Alia Crum, & Scott Delp—and to Carol Dweck, Kari Leibowitz, PhD, Octavia Zahrt, and Lauren Heathcote, PhD for welcoming me into the world of psychology and their invaluable insights and support, Melody, Tim, Debbie, and every participant who made this work possible. Nomen Azeem, MD, and Parker Snedden, our Senior Director of Marketing, delve into research and the role of the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience ASPN. Dr. Azeem emphasizes, "I want data to substantiate what my hands can do." He adds, "Younger physicians frequently ask, 'Which treatment should I use and when?' We need data to tell that story for all types of therapies." ASPN excels in integrating published leaders to offer this essential support. #SpinalSimplicity #WhyLateral #TeamMinuteman #Minuteman #ThinkAi?

#Ageing is NOT Linear… Researchers assessed many thousands of different molecules in people from age 25 to 75, as well as their microbiomes — the bacteria, viruses and fungi that live inside us and on our skin — and found that the abundance of most molecules and microbes do not shift in a gradual, chronological fashion. Rather, we undergo two periods of rapid change during our life span, averaging around age 44 and age 60. Aging isn't a slow, steady decline—it's a series of dramatic shifts, especially around ages 44 and 60, according to new Stanford University School of Medicine research. This research is a wake-up call: as we hit these milestones, we have the power to shape our health. It's time to double down on movement, manage stress, sleep better and optimize nutrition before these shifts take their toll. Adjust your lifestyle while you're still healthy. The best time to start is now. Expand Labs Expand Health Cape Town #Aging #Health #Wellness #StanfordMedicine #HealthyAging #ProactiveHealth #Longevity
