??? Ever heard of "Helimed"? In the UK, many air ambulances are referred to as ""Helimed"" followed by a number. This is known as a call sign, which helps air traffic control and emergency services quickly identify and communicate with specific helicopters during missions. While ""Helimed"" is widely used and recognised, it's not the only name used by air ambulances across the UK. The numbers and call signs can vary depending on the region and specific service operating the aircraft. This system is essential for ensuring swift and coordinated responses in emergencies, ultimately helping to save lives! #AirAmbulance #Helimed #EmergencyServices #SavingLives

My heart goes out to the families, relatives and friends affected by two devastating aviation tragedies within a week. May their Souls Rest in Peace ??? Azerbaijan Airlines Flight J2 8243 (38 lives lost on 25th December 2024) and Jeju Air Flight 7C 2216 (179 lives lost on 29th December 2024). These incidents compel us to reflect and ask critical questions about the underlying causes, possibly linked to the Dirty Dozen human error factors, and highlight the urgent need to scrutinise operational practices and safety measures to prevent future tragedies. #aviation #aviationsafety #dirtydozen #humanfactors #airplanes #runway #aircrashinvestigation

Job well done
Yesterday afternoon we coordinated the medical evacuation from the container ship MSC Nadia IV ??, about 128km east of Narooma off the NSW South Coast ?? A crew member had suffered a medical episode and required medical assistance. We tasked the Canberra-based Toll Ambulance Rescue helicopter ?? which winched the crew member aboard just after 2pm, transporting him to Canberra Hospital for treatment. Our Essendon-based Challenger rescue aircraft ?? also provided overhead support for the evacuation. Reflecting on a Tragic Week in Aviation This past week has been one of the most devastating in recent aviation history, marked by five tragic incidents that claimed hundreds of lives. Notable Incidents: Jeju Air Crash: A devastating accident in South Korea, resulting in 179 fatalities. Azerbaijan Airlines Incident: A missile strike near Kazakhstan, claiming 38 lives. Gramado Crash: A Piper PA-42 accident in Brazil with 10 fatalities. Air Canada Express Landing Incident: A crash landing in Halifax with no fatalities but multiple injuries. KLM Emergency Landing: A runway overrun in Norway; casualty details pending. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims, the survivors, and everyone affected by these tragedies. These events are a sobering reminder of the risks in aviation and the importance of continuous safety advancements. Let’s honor the memories of those we lost by reinforcing our commitment to safety and learning from these incidents to build a safer future for aviation. #AviationSafety #AviationNews #InMemoriam #FlySafe #SafetyFirst #AirlineIndustry #AviationCommunity #Resilience #CommitmentToSafety #TragicWeek
