Water Lovers: Many turtles are excellent swimmers! Sea turtles can glide through the water at speeds up to 22 miles per hour using their strong flippers. 3. Portable Homes: Turtles carry their homes on their backs! Their shells are made of over 50 bones and are part of their skeleton, offering them protection wherever they go. 4. Vegetarian Diet: While some turtles eat fish and insects, many are herbivores and enjoy a diet of plants, fruits, and vegetables. They love munching on leafy greens! 5. Built-in GPS: Sea turtles have an incredible sense of direction. In India, this connection continues, where crocodiles are not just seen as dangerous predators but also as symbols of power, protection, and reverence. Yashendu Joshi, a Doctoral Fellow at CWS, is exploring the intricate relationships between humans and crocodiles in India. His research delves into how these connections have evolved over time, gathering narratives and ethological observations from various regions to understand how humans and crocodiles coexist both socially and ecologically.
