Another day in San Francisco with the Swing Education team! I think a yearly in-person All-Hands Meeting is essential for remote teams. It's time to meet new friends and strengthen connections. It's time to literally break bread together. And it's a chance to "rally the troops" and build momentum to get us through the next year. You can show team members how much you value them with nice accommodations and good food. Recent hires can spend time with experienced team members and leave feeling like they're truly part of the team. Leaders can mingle with their teams, building trust through casual face-to-face conversations. And then we all go home recharged to be productive and engaged from our own preferred working environments for another 51 weeks!

6th June. D-Day. What an incredible moment in history ?? I'm currently on my annual Centre Parcs trip and I always find myself in reflection mode when I come here... There's something about the fresh air, the trees and being surrounded by nature that encourages me to relax and clear my mind... Despite the efforts of my two children ?? The News has been sharing stories about D-Day and the incredible humans that contributed to that unforgettable time in our history and I've been reflecting on our work 'away day', which happened to be at Bletchley Park a week ago today. Bletchley Park stands out as a powerful example of teamwork and collaboration. The codebreakers there worked tirelessly and often under immense pressure, and played a crucial role in the success of D-Day and the overall outcome of WW2. The lessons from Bletchley Park are more relevant then ever: ?The ability to work together ?Leveraging diverse skills and perspectives ?A meaningful and clear purpose ?Shared goals ?A strong team culture ?Trust Times are a little uncertain at the moment and the upcoming election will inevitably bring about change, and one thing we need to be ready for in the education sector is the prospect of change if a new government come to power. I'm confident that AQA are well positioned for whatever may happen in a few weeks' time, and I'm confident that People Group are ready to support, challenge and enable the business before, during and after whatever change may come. . . . #dday #change #collaboration #trust #teamwork #purpose #sharedgoals #team #aqa #education #generalelection

“We’re only a small team.” Ever found yourself saying that? I’m trying to train myself out of the habit too. And it is that, a bad habit. As the owner of an SME, I have to remind myself constantly, we’re not “only” this or “just” that. And whilst the reason I probably do that is an innocent one - as to not sound boastful - you can also go too far the other way, and lean a little too far into self-deprecating.
