The excerpt from "Strengthening Europe’s Civilian and Military Preparedness and Readiness" about malicious and hostile actors that use disinformation to actively undermine the integrity and functioning of our democratic governance, has several shortcomings.?For example, the report calls for collaboration with social media platforms, but it lacks specificity on how these platforms should contribute. It would benefit from stronger recommendations on regulatory measures for platforms to address disinformation actively. Furthermore, the report has limited focus on localized and vulnerable demographics (older adults, individuals with limited digital access, minority communities etc.). Although the report emphasizes the need for societal resilience and awareness, it could be more effective by addressing these issues with specific and concrete solutions. Long story short, we know the problems, we know most of the solutions, but we lack coherent policies. https://lnkd.in/dR6kdXUu

Sharing this report from my GAO colleagues that found gaps in the US government's collection of statistical data for #AmericanSamoa, #TheMarianas, #Guam, #PuertoRico, and #USVI, which can limit its understanding of territory needs and how best to distribute resources. Please check out the report below for more information and our recommendation for how US agencies can address these data gaps!
Accurate and robust federal statistics could help territorial and federal officials better understand the implications of and potential solutions to various challenges that U.S. territories face. However, my team and I released a report yesterday examining the gaps in federal data collected on U.S. Territories. Various challenges cause the gaps, but federal efforts to address them are uncoordinated. We recommended a governmentwide approach to improvement. Read more at https://lnkd.in/eZaeYhkY
