? Here’s to 2025! ? As the new year begins, I want to extend a huge thank you to all of my amazing clients, partners, and supporters who made 2024 so special. I'll be honest, launching my own consulting business was SCARY. It was also easily one of the best decisions I've ever made. In just four short months I've had the chance to work with some of the most incredible, passionate business owners, solve complex challenges, and watch healthcare organizations and their leaders grow. What I love most about consulting is the ability to combine my expertise in healthcare operations with my counseling background and education. When I work with clients, I often implement tangible solutions whether it be a KPI dashboard, standard operating procedures, or a new technology platform. Yes, these things are important, but that's only the half of it. The reality is, owning a business, especially in healthcare, can be really scary. These organizations are started because of a deep passion for helping others, but they often come with a host of challenges that keep business owners lying awake at night. Imposter syndrome, overwhelm, fear of failure – these feelings are so common, but they can feel incredibly isolating. When I partner with clients, I’m here not just to provide solutions but also reassurance and validation when things get tough. I ask the questions that help get to the root of concerns, provide perspective when decisions feel impossible, and remind my clients of the incredible work they’re doing even on the hard days. For me, the most rewarding part of consulting isn’t just about delivering tools or strategies – (though we all know I love a good KPI dashboard!) It’s about where those solutions intersect with the relationships I build. Helping someone feel less alone in their journey and more confident in their vision is what makes this work so fulfilling. To my clients: Thank you for trusting me, for inviting me into your world, and for being so passionate about what you do. Your energy and dedication make what I do so rewarding. As we head into 2025, I can't to celebrate your success with you! Oh, and I can't forget to thank this sweet family of mine whose unconditional support and belief in me led me to where I am today, in a career that has allowed me the first "unplugged" holiday break in as long as I can remember. Happy New Year! ?? I’ll admit, my 2024 didn’t end quite as planned. The past week, I’ve been down for the count—coughing my lungs off, feeling pretty terrible, and completely unable to work. Not exactly the 'grand finale' I envisioned. But here’s the thing: being forced to slow down gave me a gift I didn’t see coming. It gave me time. Time to step back, zoom out, and reflect on this wild, crazy-awesome year. And wow—what a year it was. From career pivots and personal milestones to building relationships and new beginnings, 2024 reminded me just how much can happen when you stay open to possibility. Now, 2025 is here, and even though I’m still kicking this cough, the road ahead feels SO damn exciting! One thing I’ve been reflecting on deeply is what really fills my cup—what fuels my happiness, motivation, and fulfillment. And you know what I’ve realized? It’s this: supporting my people. There’s something so incredibly rewarding about leaning into the people around you, helping them grow, thrive, and achieve their goals. So, this year, that’s what I’m leaning into with intention and consistency: ????????????????????. ??????????????????????????. ???????????????? ???? ???? ?????????????????? ?????? ?????????? ?? ???????? ???? ?????????? ??????????????. Here’s to a year of showing up, growing together, and building something amazing—with the people who matter most. Day 12 in My New Skin: A Journey (or perhaps, Teh Journey) "Journey" was the word that stuck with me after today's training session. Fitting, for a whole new adventure with this gig! I'm still feeling my way around, trying to get comfy in my new role like a snake in a freshly shed skin. Messy, but hey, growth is. Training checkstops: ? Reaching out proactively: Yup, I'm an introvert. Asking a cat to love water might be easier (although Tiger, right? Or think the Fishing Cat of SE-Asia, if the big fluffy overwhelms). But being an introvert doesn’t mean I don’t care. I do care. A lot. Maybe I'm in my head too much, because the "Jaws" theme plays when I think about it. It should be just so easy, right? Just lean into it (except with getting house kitties to understand the benefits of baths, probably). *Caveat: connections as in genuine connections, first and foremost; transactional connections is not my schtick, and shouldn't be anyone's for that matter. ? Really wanting to help: Here's the twistie bit—I'm fighting the urge to dive into the nearest cave but I genuinely want to help people with their financial planning. I'm just coming up zero on convincing them onto that toll bridge and waving them through to better pastures. Pastures I will help to tend so they don't have to sweat it. Obviously, I’m?in the fetal throes of what’s shaping up to be a spelunking expedition into the world of finance planning. Will I get bruised? Probably. Will I emerge a little battered but intact? Yes I will! It’s the price of doing something that matters. Onwards to my goal of being the friendly neighbourhood financial planner who’ll tackle the job with a fresh perspective (and maybe a little nervous energy). End-of-year vibes, am I right? Yes, it’s that magical (and mildly chaotic) season where businesses are laser-focused on closing deals, driving revenue, and planning for an explosive January. But here’s the thing: come January, companies expect everyone to be fully recharged, brimming with fresh ideas, and ready to conquer Q1. Spoiler alert: that doesn’t happen automatically. Burnout doesn’t take PTO. Here’s the reminder: Leaders, this is our time to set the tone. This is why we’re here—to create space for reflection, to show our teams they matter, what they achieved matters, and to support them as we prepare for what’s next. ? It’s pausing to celebrate individual and group's wins and contributions. ? At the beginning of 2024, I posted INs and OUTs for myself at work. Remember? Because everyone did? ?? BUT ??? the list of INs ended with: "Roll-with-the-punches type approach to obstacles/challenges" and BOY HOWDY, did I take that to heart. Changes? Had to expect them. Out of nowhere shifts to my entire professional life plan? No problem. Funny enough, I didn't wake up on January 1 saying "Let's leave a job I love, surrounded by coworkers I love, doing next-level work in an amazing industry that I love...to start a consulting firm" as hard as that is to believe. Fate intervened, but I also have to believe I knew something was coming for Future Me before it even happened. What I find even more interesting than what I kept IN was what I pushed OUT of my professional life since January from that same list. What was notably OUT was: "Fake urgency/taking the bait on chaotic ways of working" AND "Anxiety over unknowns" If you would have told me just how much I would have shifted my approach to work this year, I wouldn't have believed you. I made this list, sure, but living it? That was a whole different story. It's like I knew I'd change my entire way of approaching work AND get in a much-needed break in the process to rest, recover, and re-emerge stronger - but I didn't know it yet! I realized in reflecting back on these INs and OUTs that we make a lot of lists in our lives because lists make it *seem* like we're doing something meaningful: we wrote it down so it HAS to become real, right? Nope. This year, choosing calm in chaos (which is everywhere by the way; it's 2024; welcome to the party ?? ) and embracing BIG unknowns was the only option. I knew I had to level up, and maybe deep down that list was a premonition of sorts. This is all to say, this year has been unnerving and also thrilling. No season comes without that kind of duality, so today I am grateful that I could reflect like this without needing another list or an 'end of the year wrap up' or a fad to participate in. I can just look back and be like 'damn, I did that.' And be really, really proud and excited for Future Hannah's INs and OUTs and what they will bring for me.

Happy Friday! ? I've had several conversations recently where young professionals have expressed frustration with how difficult it can be to make friends as an adult. A friend of mine asked if I wouldn't mind sharing 5 best practices that I've found (as an extroverted introvert) for making friends, so here we go: 1) Engage in activities that YOU love doing! Yoga, theatre, young professional groups, hiking, advocacy work, and volunteering have given me some of the best friends in my life. ??♀? 2) GO FIRST! It can be scary to put yourself out there, but do the hard thing and introduce yourself to strangers. I've had to practice doing this hundreds and hundreds of times in my 20s. It gets easier - promise. ?? 3) Get good at remembering people's names! A trick I employ is as soon as someone introduces themselves, I relate it to someone or something already existing in my life. "Okay - this guy is named Austin, my brother's name is Austin - they are both cool and have dark hair- here we go. Boom. Locked in." The familiarity helps my brain relate their name back to my mouth as we talk.?? 4) Follow up! Collect folks' phone numbers, find them on Instagram, or connect with them here on Linkedin. I've found that connecting within 24 hours after meeting initially helps to keep the relational flow going. ?? 5) LISTEN WELL AND BE INTERESTED. I do my best to ask open-ended questions, get people talking, and then SHUT UP. As humans, we naturally love to talk about ourselves, so let's hold space for one another to chat about our passions and what's happening in our lives. ??
