It was a great morning at the AFA Leaders Conference in Kansas City today! Craig Bush, vice president of domestic trading at our subsidiary, CSC, enjoyed speaking with students about the ag industry. The students asked some thoughtful questions and showed real passion for this field, making for an even better conversation! This conference is a great opportunity for college students interested in agriculture as they are the future of our industry. Over these four days, students engage in hands-on learning that strengthens skills in relationship building, collaboration and career management—all essential for today’s ag professionals. Do you have a no D!£%head policy? Turns out it’s good for business. Yesterday I had the privilege of listening to the Chair of the Welsh Rugby Union Richard Collier-Keywood talk eloquently about the important Welsh cultural asset he is now responsible for and the need for it to serve all stakeholders i.e. benefit society beyond the bottom line. In business it’s known as CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) which emerged as a concept in the 1960s. Back then it was seen as an altruistic means of doing more with a business than just making money, but it was assumed it would involve sacrificing profit to achieve it. The growing evidence shows this is not the case. Being environmentally responsible, inclusive and serving of all stakeholders (customers, employees, investors, the environment and wider society) builds a strong brand, customer engagement, profit and also investment opportunities. The All Blacks have an NDH (No D!£%head) policy. They clean their own dressing rooms, carry their own bags and essentially show humility, accountability and a recognition of all the stakeholders in their organisation. For me, corporate social responsibility boils down to common sense, respect and humility. It’s good to see those leading our national game going forward aspire to the same ethos. And at a time of such high attrition in business in general, would it not be best to have a smart business model that ensures that everyone in the eco system is incentivised to see the venture succeed???

One of the purposes of the NALP #annualeducationconference is to reconnect with others in the industry, especially for those of us in it for a long time. Last week, it was great to catch up with people who I have grown up with in the profession, who have been instrumental in my own career development, (looking at you, Debby, Michele, Emily, Victor, Yujin, Kathren, Carryn). And, then to be sitting next to Carryn at the Flo Recruit dinner! Carryn and I are part of each other’s law firm “origin stories” and it was fun to relive and share how we were trained in that bygone era, from use of significant digits in GPA calculations, the order the doucments appeared in the callback file, printing callback documents on the appropriate colored paper, the correct *full* names of law schools on the appropriately colored file labels, callback reports, FedEx’ing candidate files to Chicago prior to the 5:00 p.m. cutoff, arraning seating charts for recruiting dinners, etc. And, to top the week off, I get to see my oversized headshot at the business meeting, when I was recognized with Clara Solomon and Donna Gerson by our peers at NALP, for doing “work,” that I don’t really consider work. It is so fulfilling when I can connect people and, more importantly, advance other careers. And, to feel and hear the appreciation from the #aapi members, well, it makes it all worthwhile.? #nalp #nalpannual #legalrecruiting
What an honor to receive the 2024 NALP Service Excellence Award at this year’s conference alongside my colleagues Clara Solomon and Michael Nguyen! NALP is unparalleled for its people, statistical studies, learning opportunities, and overall community. I look forward to staying involved. I am so glad that my Drexel University's Thomas R. Kline School of Law colleagues Jennifer Moore, Jennifer Whitehurst, Esq., Elizabeth Dunn, and Rashida T. West were in Boston to network and learn from leaders across the U.S. and Canada.

Glad to see trade schools making a comeback! With the rising demand for skilled workers in fields like construction, diesel tech, and computer technology, it's no surprise that enrollment in trade schools has been on the rise. According to recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, occupations requiring vocational training are projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations. It’s great to see our leaders recognizing the importance of hands-on training and specialized skills in meeting the demands of the workforce. What other factors do you think are contributing to this renewed interest in trade education?
Lt. Governor Jon Husted was at the Southern Hills Career & Technical Center's groundbreaking ceremony yesterday! The expansion project was made possible by a $4.6 million Career Technical Construction Program grant, helping the school expand their facility to add two new programs – Welding Fabrication and Allied Health Care – to serve up to 100 additional students.

THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IS BROKEN AND NOT WORKING FOR AMERICAN TAXPAYERS Veteran Housing Corp would ask every TAXPAYER to demand and get answers from their elected and appointed government officials the below questions as they relate to any affordable, workforce, or supportive housing project in your community! 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, or other government benefits or incentives did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? Is the affordability period permanent and in perpetuity? 3. What guarantees exist have your local, state, and federal government officials obtained in writing that rents will not go up or that tenants will not be displaced or evicted after the "affordability period expires? Every local, state, and federal housing authority and affordable or workforce housing stakeholder should adopt the State of Vermont's "permanent affordability" policy as a model for all future government funded or subsidized housing projects or developments, no exceptions! https://lnkd.in/eFEUC8c8 Additionally, local, state and federal housing agencies should look to the Helsinki, FINLAND MODEL of ending homelessness by providing affordable housing for all 'It’s a miracle': Helsinki's radical solution to homelessness https://lnkd.in/er9HZSQU Even the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development AGREES THAT adopting FINLAND'S MODEL OF ERADICATING HOMELESSNESS may be of great value to resolving the affordable housing and homelessness crises in America https://lnkd.in/gkSZWYRU
