How Strategic Agility Differs from Agile Strategy and Why It Matters https://lnkd.in/ecM45KUw I have been working on "agility" for several years now - mostly in the context of #multinational organisations and with #multicultural teams. And more than ever, I feel the need to distinguish between strategic #agility and agile #strategy. As a short-cut, while agile strategy is about the methods and processes to dynamize the #strategizing process, strategic agility is about embedding agility into the organization’s DNA, enabling it to remain competitive and resilient in the face of continuous change. It is still surprising to me how concepts turn into a #buzzword and how little they are used in a differentiated way. Yet, the relationship between management buzz and consulting seems to be symbiotic. Consultants rely on the latest buzz to stay relevant and market their services effectively, while businesses look to consultants to help them implement the newest trends and stay competitive. This #dynamic can drive innovation but also create a cycle where companies chase the latest trends without critically assessing their true value or alignment with long-term goals. I hope this short paper helps to remedy the overwhelming buzz and contributes to effectively using the notion of agility in strategizing. As a professor, I am keen on developing sound concepts, clear definitions, and work towards managerial usefulness. As a consultant, I can benefit from this ambition. I am also pleased to say that I have been able to cooperate with Detecon Schweiz, one of the few consulting companies that have gone through the painful process of #reorganizing its internal operations in an agile way and launching an agile strategy process.
