One of the features that caught my eye with Cisco #Hypershield is the dual dataplane. As you know, a major pain point with all networking products is software upgrades. What will the impact be of my upgrade? How long will the network be down? How can I verify beforehand that the upgrade will be successful? Having the ability to do an upgrade and still keep forwarding is awesome. Being able to test a policy on one of the dataplanes and verify the impact, is also really cool. Could this be replicated on hardware? Would it be too complicated? Too expensive? I'm curious to find out. Have you seen other products using the concept of dual dataplanes?
