Is 2025 the year of eVTOL? Probably not. From legislation, to infrastructure, to costs, to aviation safety, we're not really too close yet. "...Getting passenger-carrying eVTOLS into commercial service, however, does not seem likely this year given the pace of certification for new categories of aircraft. For success in the longer term, assuming eventual certification, eVTOLs will still have to demonstrate a level of utility beyond that of the helicopters they seek to replace. The aircraft will also have to gain acceptance from the flying public as well as urban dwellers who have a history of fighting against rotorcraft operations over their neighborhoods. Some things just do not add up? EVTOL industry and the wild Claims!!!! September 3rd "Archer Aviation completed 402 flight tests thus far in 2024 with its Midnight eVTOL air taxi prototype, AIN reported. The company is seeking to gain FAA certification in 2025 and enter into service thereafter so it has ramped up flight testing this year, with the 400+ flight testing milestone four months ahead of schedule." The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has officially accepted AutoFlight’s application for the Type Certificate (TC) of their Prosperity 5-seater electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. ? News comes just weeks after AutoFlight’s CarryAll cargo eVTOL obtained the Type Certificate (TC) issued by the CAAC, becoming the world’s first ton-level eVTOL aircraft to be awarded the TC. The certification process for AutoFlight Air Taxi Prosperity commenced on April 26, 2024. Prosperity?is equipped with a pure electric propulsion system, has a maximum take-off weight of 2,200 kg, and features a 5-seat cabin design. Its ‘lift and cruise’ wing configuration allows for vertical take-off, similar to a multi-rotor aircraft or helicopter. Once in flight mode, it transitions to fixed-wing flight for horizontal cruising. With its versatility in take-off and landing, efficiency, convenience, and environmental safety, it stands as an ideal choice for Air Taxis. SkyDrive “Forms Business Partnership with FEAM Aero”, a Large North American MRO Company. SkyDrive, the Japanese eVTOL company, recently announced the signing of a strategic alliance with U.S?based FEAM Aero, reports a press release. This collaboration combines Japan’s leading electric air taxi development with FEAM’s experience of creating a strong framework for the maintenance, support and scalability of air taxis both across the U.S and elsewhere. SkyDrive established a local American subsidiary last year.
