Are you exhausted by product development organizations which give lip service to agility, while concurrently reinforcing ecosystems which squeeze the life out of creativity, and adaptability? Can you articulate the underlying structural forces driving the current behaviors with enough clarity and detail to help you gain the executive buy-in required to change the organizational design in a meaningful way? My Certified LeSS Practitioner (CLP) course is designed to help. Bring yourself, and bring others who's influence and support you need to help affect deeper change. In the systems modeling-based exercises you will come to a deeper framework agnostic understanding of how various organizational design choices influence outcomes. Between the systems modeling exercises, we will explore LeSS as an example reference implementation for creating a more adaptive organization. I am grateful to have been mentored by Craig Larman, Bas Vodde, Viktor Grgic, and several other of my fellow LeSS trainers. If the timing and geography of one of my courses isn't convenient to you, please consider taking a course from one of my fellow LeSS trainers. Gene G. occasionally runs public courses in the greater NYC area. Here is the link for my upcoming Dallas-Ft. Worth course on September 18-20. I have also recently listed courses in Washington, Singapore, Osaka, Bogota (Spanish), and Barcelona (Spanish). For details on the other courses, just click the Events menu above the Dallas-Ft. Worth page. https://lnkd.in/ga8ZkUmB #lessworks #certifiedlesspractitioner #less #systemmodeling

#ConflictResolution, London, Thursday 9th May. Just 3 places remaining. Tickets priced on a sliding scale according to income. This one-day workshop is an interactive, role-playing experience to help you explore different ways to navigate, confront or even embrace the real conflicts of your own life. You can read the full description of the workshop on my web page, so here I'll offer a few comments from previous participants... "Your Conflict Resolution workshop was one of the best workshops I've ever attended. I think about it all the time!" "...In his conflict resolution class Tobias Mayer taught us more in a few hours than other programs do in a week. This class truly facilitates deep, hard inner work and fosters compassion and understanding." "Coming to your workshop last week has had a profound effect on how I think and I want to thank you for your time and effort" "Tobias's way of facilitating gently creates opportunity for self reflection and revelation as well as warm and meaningful interaction with others in the group..." "As with anything Tobias-related, it's thoughtful, deep, and offers you valuable insight into your personal growth." This is the last public workshop I'll be doing for the foreseeable future, but this and all my workshops (including new ones tailored specifically for your needs) can be booked as on-site, private experiences. All my work resides in the far outer edges of the Agile mainstream, but the experience/s will inform your core practice in useful, and often surprising ways. #conflict #conversation #scrummaster #agilecoach

??????????????Friday Five Tips & Tricks?????????????? Today marks one year since I partnered with John Miller to emphasize the importance of taking time to inspect and adapt. Our efforts have resulted in significant personal and professional growth over the past year. By deliberately slowing down to learn and reflect, we have acquired new techniques and enhanced our skills. It's taken our time; however, the results of slowing down to speed up have produced more business and increased our skills as trainers. It's puzzling why organizations often overlook the value of dedicating time to learning and reflecting, as this approach can lead to numerous missed opportunities. So we challenge you take time to speed up. ?? Here's our Friday ?? Five Tips & Tricks to up your game!?? 1. Find an improvement buddy: Seek out colleagues with skills or knowledge that you may wish to gain. John and I are opposites. His strengths are my weaknesses, and vice versa. He's taught me patience to prosper and the importance of working on quality. 2. Schedule Regular Check-Ins: Set up biweekly virtual meetings to discuss progress, share insights, and reinforce learning. This may be 30 minutes max! Timebox yoursevles to 15 minutes each. 3. Set Clear Learning Objectives: Establish specific biweekly learning goals, such as mastering a new software tool or refining presentation skills, and work with your partner to achieve them. 4. Utilize Collaboration Tools: To facilitate joint learning activities, leverage virtual collaboration tools such as shared documents, video conferencing, and online whiteboards. 5. Provide Constructive Feedback: Encourage the exchange of constructive feedback to support each other's growth, such as providing suggestions for improving a presentation or troubleshooting code during a collaborative coding session. ?? 3 ?????????????????? ???????? ???? ?????? ???????? ???????? ?????????????? ???? ?????? ?????????????? from the 2024 ?????????????? ???????? ?????????????????? ???? ???????????????? Year-End Meetup Earlier this year, I accidentally wandered into the ?????????????? ???????? ?????????????????? ???? ???????????????? Fast forward to their year-end meetup, it felt like a reunion of municipal Lean nerds (yes, I proudly include myself in that group). We swapped stories, sparked ideas, and left buzzing with inspiration for another year of meaningful change. What a crew! ?? Here’s what resonated most for me: 1?? ??-??-??-?? ???????? ???????? ???????????? While having all the data can be helpful, remember who the ?????? is in your process: ???????? ????????????????. As Lean practitioners, we often become the “go-to” for all things Lean, but that’s not sustainable in the long run. ???????????????? ?????? ???????????? ???? ?????????????????????? ?????????????????????? ???????? ??: ???????????????????? ???????????????? Deliberate Practice is NOT the same as experience. Exceptional performers use deliberate practice to ???????????????????? ??????????????. They find specific experiences that give them the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a real-world environment, get actionable feedback, and iterate their responses.? ???????? ???? ???? 10 years' experience is meaningless if no learning took place during that period. 8 ???????????????????? ???? ?????????? ??????????????????, ?????????? ?????????????????????????? In Cascais last year at our trainer meetup, we asked, "What are the principles of CAO?" Initially, we saw the Guides in the book as potential principles, but the question stayed with me... Now, back in Cascais for some remote work, I’ve distilled those guides into these principles. Here they are: 1???Context-Driven Approach Tailor your Agile setup to your unique context and strategic goals. 2???Capability-Driven Design Identify and design your organisation to close key capability gaps, to achieve strategic objectives. 3???Design Product Groups Around Value Creation Organize groups around delivering goods or services to maximize impact. 4???Loosely Coupled Groups Design for group independence to enhance overall resilience and effectiveness. 5???Shared Services for Integration Group support and organization wide standards without embedding essential product group components. 6???Optimize System-Wide Performance Optimize structure, process, rewards, people and strategy for overall performance, even at the cost of individual components. 7???Design for Adaptability Reduce bottlenecks with broader specialisation and minimize transaction and switching costs to improve adaptability. 8???Emergent Coordination Minimise large meetings, create conditions for emerging focused, purposeful discussions. Uhmm, these principles are straightforward, but applying them in a complex organization is the real challenge—and where the big impact happens.
