Act Today, Save Tomorrow. Do you believe that, given the choice between a bright future requiring a bit of effort or an effortless oblivion, you could choose to do the work? What if all it took was 1 act of kindness? An act of kindness uplifts the recipient and inspires every witness to it, setting off a chain reaction of goodwill across the community. Maybe your contribution is holding the door for a complete stranger who then feels inspired to do something kind themselves. In a world obsessed with gaining influence, this is the oldest form of influence there is and it is sorely needed. Here's some wonderful organisations you could join me in supporting if you are feeling that you might like to do something to celebrate Earth Day: 1. Help pollinators and familiarise yourself with your local honey producers and support them (especially if you like honey!), you can find who does what here. https://www.bbka.org.uk/ thanks to the wonderful work of the British Beekeepers Association - BBKA - Bees are still sleepy this time of year but apiaries often have plenty of stockpiles they can offer. ?? 2. Reducing pollution in our environment is a task we can all contribute to, in big or small ways. If you spot a stray piece of rubbish near a bin while you’re out and about, why not pick it up? If you want to help an organisation that is aiming to change behaviour permanently by spotlighting the problem daily and offering creative solutions, then help Keep Britain Tidy https://lnkd.in/eV2HeAcc ?? 3. Support your local wildlife trusts. If you want to go somewhere for a beautiful walk and to inspire yourself, or your family, then The Wildlife Trusts have locations all over the country that badly need our support. As a special bonus if you're more able to donate money than time, then there's a Green Match Fund Appeal this week only: https://lnkd.in/eufMxKAh ?? Never doubt the value of your support, any amount is enough. Hold the door. #dothework #earthday

Red fox. Lee Valley Park.

I knew this area was reliable for foxes, and I wanted a shot with the industrial backdrop. One day when setting up my camera with a remote shutter release, a fox approached from my left. Hesitant about what to do, I stayed still, and surprisingly the fox stopped right in my frame. I took the shot but was confused why it had come so close. In hindsight, this encounter probably tells the story more than the photo itself. Wildlife has become used to us encroaching on them. I think the felled tree and longing look on the fox’s face portray this tragedy perfectly. I hope that all wildlife photography doesn’t look like this in years to come.
