It was great to attend the Kansas City Vascular Symposium: A Case-Based Update for Primary Care at Arrowhead Stadium back in April with our Abbott Vascular counterparts! Did you know that malnutrition and the risk of malnutrition are common among patients with venous ulcers? Evidence suggests that energy-dense high-protein oral nutrition supplements, enriched with amino acids, vitamins, and minerals, might benefit the healing process for patients with VLU. What oral nutrition supplements do you recommend for patients with VLU? Moscicka P, et al. Postepy Dermatol Alergol. 2022;39(2):336-346 #Iworkforabbott

Food Supplements are a very promising tool to integrate therapies.? The AREDS studies testify it. The AREDS studies were designed to learn more about the natural history and risk factors of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataract and to evaluate the effect of vitamins on the progression of these eye diseases. #food #nutrition #foodsafety #beverage? https://lnkd.in/ew7kszKK

Contrary to what many on the internet will say, creatine monohydrate powder does not break down in your stomach prior to being digested and absorbed.?It takes between 12-24 hours for creatine to be broken down by stomach acid and by that time it’s long past your pylorus. What does creatine do, and is it really worth the hype? Creatine is one of the most widely researched supplements. The human body makes creatine from three amino acids or protein-building blocks - L-arginine, glycine, and L-methionine. About half of our creatine needs come from dietary sources or can be taken as a supplement. Research shows that supplementing with creatine can benefit muscle, brain, and mitochondrial health. Pyrroloquinoline quinone, abbreviated as PQQ, is a novel cofactor with physiological functions similar to vitamins. It is widely present in prokaryotes, plants, and mammals, such as fermented soybeans or natto, green peppers, kiwifruit, parsley, tea, papaya, spinach, celery, breast milk, etc. In recent years, PQQ has become one of the "star" nutrients that have received widespread attention. In 2022 and 2023, China approved PQQ synthesized and fermented as a new food ingredient. The biological functions of PQQ mainly focus on two aspects. Firstly, it can support the growth and development of mitochondria and stimulate rapid cell growth in the human body; Secondly, it has good antioxidant properties, which can help eliminate free radicals and reduce cell damage. These two functions make it play a powerful role in brain health, cardiovascular health, metabolic health, and other aspects. Because the human body cannot synthesize PQQ on its own, it needs to be supplemented through dietary supplements.
