Have you ever thought of attending a hackathon hosted by high school students ? Quick summary: I would definitely recommend it. Awhile ago, I was able to attend Hack the Ridge at Iroquois High School. The hackathon was hosted by a group of high school students, they were really friendly and amazing people to talk to. During the hackathon I was able to make a lot of new friends and made a team a 3 with my amazing teammates. I had an amazing time, keep up the good work and I hope to be there again next year. Details: For this hackathon, me and my team brainstormed ways to imprve education and set on the idea of a digital penpal, we called it linkless. While we were planning we realized that education was not just about a peice of paper that had a number from 0-100 (test and quizzes), in the 21st century, education also includes being able to connection with other people and peers that are different from you. We realized that as people stayed home more and utilized the internet more and more, their ability to socialize is worsening. Hence we created an app that is like penpal but online. When you resisgter fro an account, our website will link you with some one who is in a different country and every week there will be activities you and your partners can do that explore themes liek culture and different values. We used Python as the back end and React for the front end. This was really challenging for me as I was in charge of the backend, using flask to create an api to link it with react, while also creating a database with Oracle MySQL. In the end, we had finished both the backend and the front end but did not have enough time to link the 2 together
