Whew! Friends, let me tell you...it has been quite the past several weeks! Recently, I've been super involved in local community events such as the COO Summit, Breck Retailers Sip and Stroll with The Summit Chamber, Breck Film, and Axis Sports Medicine's Axis Ascent (to name a few), with even more events in store for the near future. But while it feels like I was (and still am) running around like a chicken with my head cut off, I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the rush and being able to witness these amazing events come to fruition! This year, Summit County is experiencing an unprecedented surge in events, even during what is typically our 'slow season.' It's a testament to our collective determination to stay visible and keep the community connected. Sometimes, we get caught up in our own world and don't know another world happening right next door. Step out of your comfort zone and explore your community from different points of view to see what you may be missing. And ask lots of questions! Consider what different groups of people do and what types of events they are interested in. Some to start with: farmers, parents, artists, young professionals, economically diverse, culturally diverse, retired, business leaders, sports fanatics, craft beer aficionados, and the list goes on. I opened the doors for "The CLUB" at the beginning of the month. A visibility club and intentional networking community. It has only been sixteen days and we are already celebrating huge wins. ? A member landing their first speaking gig AND an opportunity to guest coach in a very popular community. ? A member sending out her first ever pitches and getting an instant response from a Podcast Host (still working out the topic details). ? Members planning a collaboration on an upcoming event and dream brand activation. I am sharing this not just to showcase how valuable AF The Club is (even though it is so damn good already)... I am sharing to also showcase that it really can be that simple- ?? Podcast Hosts are searching for new content- they are foaming at the mouth to have new guests with fresh perspectives on their shows. ?? Great local networking session at Plumpton Racecourse last night with the Haywards Heath Business Association, despite having to brave the storms to get there! ??? After stepping back from networking last year due to life events, it feels amazing to reconnect with my local business community. It’s good to be back. ?? Working from home can be pretty isolated - full of video calls and emails. These events remind you of the value of face-to-face interactions, and you also get to explore some fantastic local venues! While I’m not there to sell my services (though that can be a nice side-effect), it’s really about meeting new people and feeling part of the community. ?? Plus there is a lot of support out there for local businesses which you might not find out about without your local business association. We had a great introduction to the West Sussex Growth Hub last night so I’m excited to dive into the resources they have on offer!
