Help anyone? Anyone got any advice about how to trial or get my peer mentoring research project funded? I can’t do this voluntarily but I passionately believe it will reduce the strain in the NHS and improve outcomes. Personalised-care is not only a basic but a human right. Patient choice and control is about delivering the kind of care and support patients actually want as well as need! It’s about understanding what matters to patients - the Holy Grail. Then you can achieve patient motivation, engagement, self efficacy and their choice and control. More choice and control for patients enables services to fit to patients as opposed to shoe horning patients into services already under strain. I believe my peer mentoring scheme will increase medication adherence, reduce falls, increase self efficacy, increase community and rehab engagement, reduce loneliness, isolation and anti depressants prescriptions. I had the chance to view this insightful video about networking. I first want to thank my professor Amy Watson, PhD, for making this video and giving us the opportunity to learn more about networking and building relationships along with H. DeWayne Johnson. The video also had insights from H. DeWayne Johnson, which added to what I've learned about networking. He talked about the importance of stepping out of your comfort zone and always being willing to learn and work hard. He also emphasized the value of being genuine and forming real relationships with people. From my own experience, I've found that networking goes beyond just going to events or meetings. It's about being active in your industry, joining online communities, and finding mentors who can help you grow. By putting yourself out there and making connections, you can open up a world of opportunities and build a network that'll support you throughout your career. What stops us from networking? Personally, confidence has always been a big one for me. This morning, Jimmy Kelly hosted a brilliant talk on the ins and outs of networking, sharing knowledge from almost 10 years in the industry. So how do we overcome a lack of confidence? Confidence is built on experience. By putting yourself in situations where you can learn, you will develop your skills and grow more comfortable over time. One key takeaway from this event is the reminder that being interested is better than being interesting. People love to talk about themselves, and showing genuine interest can lead to more meaningful connections. The best way to approach this is to prepare open-ended questions, making the conversation more engaging and less stressful by letting the other person do most of the talking.
