In the last week of October, we did the kaizen week of costs at the Mauá plant in order to find opportunities to reduce the Cost/Liter. ? In the construction of the strategy, four work fronts were prioritized: ? 1)Contracts (Top 4 ) , (Thank you Luciane Monteiro !) 2)Reductions of spare parts (Top 20), ( Thank you Caio Bazoni Verardino !) 3)Utilities (Thank you @ Thiago )and 4) Waste (Red drum reduction) (Thank you Paula Levasier !) ? The team clearly understood where we have an opportunity and with that, 71 actions were generated. Planned Saving of the week 200 k Reais ! ? The plan is set up and now we will follow up so that these actions help us reach the 2025 Cost/Liter target! ? Towards being more competitive than the competition!

Sean Nairn, General Manager of Meltshop Operations, and Nikhil Nafade, General Manager of Rolling Mill Operations, shared their learnings over the past 2 years towards integrating problem solving with Quick Kaizen at their plants. Since they have?now?completed?hundreds of Quick Kaizens, their sharing will help their sister mills new to problem solving?to?avoid pitfalls and accelerate their deployment through shared experience. At Ivaco, over?90% of employees have been trained in Quick Kaizen.?A performance dashboard is used to track the speed of implementation and effectiveness?of countermeasures to eliminate the recurrence of problems. The?plant’s?OEE has increased by 3% for the rolling mill and 6% for the meltshop since 2022, Quick Kaizen being one contributing factor for this improvement. Last week was a significant investment in regional capability building for Urlati. We hosted two workshops that allowed colleagues from across Europe to get new learnings, build new networks and relationships and visit our IWS5.0 Establish operation as a background to their learning experiences. IWS Fundamentals School is designed for our young Process Engineers to grow their capabilities in problem solving, working as a team ‘on the floor’ and basic Supply Chain loss identification. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to share experiences from their home sites and to get advice on how to accelerate their impact. Many thanks to all the participants from the sites in France, Hungary & Poland for staying safe and providing their feedback at the end of the week, special thanks to the trainers Witold Kowalczyk and Mateusz Sadowski, and to Ciorobea Vasile Valentin for organizing. The second event was the Supply Chain Academy for the Europe F&A Organization with more than 12 locations represented. This is designed as an in depth look into how the supply chain works from suppliers to the plant operations and the distribution network to customers. Thank you to the Urlati Operations teams for hosting the tours, Raluca Vijaica for organizing and Mateusz Lewandowski and Vasile (again!) for contributing as trainers for the plant content. It was a great opportunity to share experiences with colleagues from different facilities across The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company Thanks to the Americas team HR for facilitating this training in locations such as Akron, Ohio, and Americana, Brazil. ? Proud Moment Alert! ? I am thrilled to share that my Kaizen project, "Blower and Air Line Stabilization to Prevent Bottle Damage," was recognized at the Kaizen Awards 2024, and I received a certificate to honor my efforts! ?? This Kaizen aimed to address a critical issue at the pasteurizer discharge point, where vibrations from an unmounted blower and GI pipe caused bottles to fall, break, and sustain damage. My solution involved installing a secure clamp to stabilize the blower and pipe, effectively eliminating vibrations and preventing further damage. Key Benefits of This Kaizen: ? Minimized bottle breakage, reducing product losses significantly. ? Improved operational efficiency by stabilizing the equipment. ? Reduced maintenance needs and prolonged equipment lifespan. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the invaluable support and knowledge shared by the operators, friends and assistants who worked alongside me on this project.
