I see devices like these perpetually sitting around at EOCs and PSAPS all the time, collecting dust. They are always gimmicky and complicated. My goals from the onset in building a few were simplicity and usability. The deployment process goes like this: -Connect antennas -Connect AC power -Stand by 5 minutes for two additional radio resources to become available at the consoles at 911 That's it. If this doesn't happen, the project is a failure and needs to be reevaluated. You don't even need to open them if you don't want to. Any member of the organization should be able to use these. Perhaps this simplicity and portability will result in more action, we will see. With PTToC gaining little traction in our area, quasi-fixed stations like these can offer big time flexibility and interoperability. It will be interesting to see what use cases the customer can come up with in this case (pun intended).
